Looks like Kjata-Elemental didn't protect Cid from the Ultima Beam attack. I don't think it protects from non-elemental attacks the way Bahamut and Neo Bahamut did.

It only cut the damage in half, because I just got the Elemental materia I equipped on him, which only halves damage at Level 1. I felt that was better than nothing.

Ah, that's cool. I didn't know you could protect from non-elemental attacks at all... I guess non-elemental is still sort of an "element" , but no enemy resists it.

It's possible they just changed his age at the last second. IIRC earlier iterations of Cid were old men at least 40 years old.

Also, Cid's picture in FF7 looks more like 40 than 30. Perhaps they designed Cid in 3d and realized he looked younger than they originally intended.

This game seems designed to appeal to the widest possible audience. A common notion being that younger players identify more easily with younger characters.

Ugarmax is a little more powerful, but it only hits a single enemy, from what I remember (it's been a while, since my third disc is busted). Catastrophe does a little less damage, but it hits ALL enemies, which is a little more useful, IMO.

That's not a bad idea, but I'm not entirely behind that. Cloud's so big on the world map because of gameplay limitations. For realistic scale, either Cloud would be too tiny to be seen on the map, or the world would be too huge to fit on one CD.

The FMVs, though, seem to at least STRIVE for realistic proportions (no Popeye arms for one), which is why I'm not entirely convinced.
