I have this phone.. and I'm getting the Samsung Fascinate soon..I wanted to know if the messaging for the Fascinate is the same as the Eris..? Because, if not, I'm in trouble. Since I have had the Eris for a year and i am use to the messaging..

Standard OTA Messaging does not support text colors or fonts. This is the same with any other phone. Im sure that there is an IM app that supports it, but that would require the other person to be IMing as well.

I just use the T9 vertical and when I come to a word or persons name I know t9 will not come up with I turn the phone to hori and type. And the phone kicks ass, love it.

this video re-affirmed the reason I probably shouldn't get the Eris...it looks hard as fuck to type on. I realize you can do landscape mode but look like they prove to be cumbersome and slow. Guess I'll have to go with the Motorola Droid.

trust me...i have an eris and the virtual keyboard is very good and accurate, in my mind, just as good as the iphone, which i used to have. the droid has the stock android keyboard, not htcs keyboard, so the droids on screen keyboard isnt as intuative. plus, the hard keyboard on the droid sucks ass. its way too flat and shallow for serious texting. i would get the eris. its 100 bucks cheaper than the droid.

in the messages app, go to menu, hit attach and your done.

receiving, open the message tap and hold then it will give you the option to open or save.
