As his biggest fan, even I have to agree with that assessment. He's had moments of pure dominance; that three game streak of 20+ points (I know...most NBA players do that!) was an incredible sight not because he scored that much, but because of HOW he scored them. Late in the OKC game, he was facing up and blowing past their bigs, scoring at will on Ibaka, and splitting DOUBLE TEAMS by dribbling through them or making crazy overhead, no-look passes...
But then, once he begins to struggle a little, shit hits the fan. Why does it happen? Because he hasn't worked hard enough to "overcome" those moments and doesn't know how to react to struggling.
Meanwhile D Wade are adding to their HoF careers, Carmelo and Bosh are racking up all star games, and Chris Kaman, David West, Kirk Hinrich, Mickael Pietrus, Boris Diaw, Travis Outlaw, Josh Howard, Kyle Korver and Mo Williams are having respectable careers.
Also the guy who was drafted one ahead of Milicic.
Darko is currently 5th in the league in blocked shots at 2.29 a game, just behind Amare and Dwight Howard at 2.32 each. He's a true center, legit 7'1" w/long arms. Offensively he's improving and this play shows how skilled he is for a big man, he just needs to stay healthy, but he doesn't need big points every game to help the team. This huge bucket ended a Washington run - they'd just taken the lead in the 4th period - and it got the crowd back into it and helped turn the momentum of the game.
Come on, bro. He didn't get ONE chance in Detroit. The fans were idiots, the coaches ignorant, and his teammates were the only ones supporting him. The whole city mocked him...I can't wait till he gets consistent...he's going to get the last laugh. The morons in Detroit will truly begin to regret their treatment of him in the coming years.
@4legendsLive Seriously? The guy has no work ethic that's why he couldn't crack the line up in Detroit. Detroit desperately wanted him to be good, but he doesn't understand how hard you have to work to get good. And about regretting their treatment of him in coming years: he's been in the league for seven years, has been on five different NBA teams and is nothing more than a role player. The potential may be there, but how long do you expect a team to hope and pay for potential?
@yanni3003 Darko never had a shot in Detroit. Larry Brown is notorious for not nurturing young players and relying on veterans.. He ignored Darko and gave him the worst possible minutes; embarrassing a young kid by turning him into a victory cigar. How is he supposed to develop the work ethic and the confidence necessary to succeed with the way he was treated in Detroit? At the end of the day should he have been a 2nd overall? Probably not, but he's not the only person to blame.
