Ahhh.....the silence of the lambs. Does anyone know if the chip will still work in your head if you drown at sea? Will they be able to recover your body that way? Of course, this is perfect for chipping the criminals so if they escape they can be caught right away, or perhaps just send a jolt through the chip and blow their fucking heads off! Brave New World Order here we come. Yeeeeeeehaaaaaaaaaaa
@jaimeferragut I have to disagree with you, if it wasn't for nationalistic pride all the moneys which went to the International Space Station, the Hubble Telescope or space exploration would have been given to poor people in Africa to feed them and we would all be living in woods and eating grass right now.
The will to succeed,the competitive spirit has driven science where it is today, if there were only wussies, then like I said we would be living in the woods.
I have worked for the European Space Agency and I must say that ESA's feelings about Galileo are very different from the ones you have posted here.
There are no pointless nationalistic rivalries between space agencies, but deep and frank cooperation.
Bear in mind that if EU, US or Russian officials at their respective space agencies had thought the way you do we would have never accomplished fascinating projects such as the International Space Station, the Hubble Telescope or space exploration

This is a great project. I've been doing research on the Galileo project, and here's some info: the US wanted the EU to stop Galileo, because it would give people alternatives if/when the US shuts down GPS in warzones.
The US whined just because they want their monopoly and their ability to shut off global navigation to any arbitrary point on the planet. Of course they claim it would be used in wartime, against terrorists... but we've all seen how such definitions are elastic.
They say it wont rival GPS, and the EU uses words like `complement`, to ease US worrys. But we all know it will rival GPS. Which I totally agree with. Europe is too reliant on the US. Now we are nearlly independant. ESDP ops centre/Battlegroups, A400M, Single Currency, Navigation system, EDA, CFSP. The EU will be a super power in the future.
This is way better than American GPS. The Americans were boasting that they had found out the codes and signals lol. They were not even supposed to be secret. The EU will make the codes available anyway. The US thinks everything is millitary, and a threat against it. However I have no doubt that Galileo will play some part in the EU`s ESDP.
Well, in fact the purpose of Galileo is not to replace US GPS, but to complement it. Currently, the only way for space agencies to achieve big goals is to cooperate.

@janetgarrison
Not a super power, but certainly a super state.
A bureaucratic super state, that is.
It's is not as if EU is of such a high democratic level or transparent as an organisation.
It's a top-down organisation which more and more people start to dislike.
