  • @danson1992

I have just began ENT-B. I have been a FR for four months. You haven't even scratched the surface yet. Knowing the body and fiction will help a lot. Terminology, proper procedures, law, and advanced treatments will carry you further than FR. I love it. It's hard, but with it. Good luck.

  • thanks for sharing this tutorial..this is such a useful video..thanks for the upload..!!

  • Alright, so I'm going into emt training soon, and I have a question that anyone who has emt training could probably answer. I've been a lifeguard for about 4 years (started when I was around 15/16 and I'm 20 now) But anyway I am a certified first responder because of this and I was just wondering if this gives me any kind of head-start? and is there anyone out there nice enough to take the time to give me an I idea of what I should already know before going into it?

  • Yes, like the Glasgow Coma Scale.

  • See, the Firefighters told me you classify responsiveness in numbers.

Since this video is kinda old, I'll assume that what they told me is correct.

Still, it's nice having information like this available.

  • Interesting to see in the comments that people are saying the classes are stressful. I haven't taken the classes yet (will be next month though!) but I heard from pre-med forums that the training isn't too bad (actually easy). I don't know what to expect now.

  • After i graduate from high school in under two weeks i'm taking a National Registry course for EMT 1-B training at Orange Coast College, a community college here in southern California, and then i can take the national registry after i pass the course. I'm stoked and a little nervous but i'm glad this information is available! Thank you

  • @CrazeeGiant Thats what I'm doing right now. Excited but nervous as well.

  • check out

  • What's up with those toes -__-

  • Is it me or was every single medical training video made in the 80s and after that they just stopped making them?

  • Im learning this in my EMT course for the week. this is extremely helpful! thansk for the upload.

  • Am i the only one who notice the toes in 7:50?

  • Am i the only one who notice the toes in 7:50?

  • yes Aand P and Word process, im taking my Truama assessment and writen Final the next 2 days , im watching these to study

  • I am a CNA I want to be a EMT. I am a patient care assistance. Does anyone know how much school a EMT is?

  • @hetnerd hi, i am an emt, i paid 750.00 dollars for the classes, however it might not be the same price from where you live....

  • Didn't you work for Islip Fire Department?

  • @hetnerd - it depends on the school you go to. for mine, i paid a little over $1,500 for all four classes and all of the uniforms and equipment that was required. But at my school, you go through the classes for 1 semester and as long as you pass then you get to take the national registry exam (which is another $70 for me) and if you pass that then you get to be licensed in whatever state you are in. but in the end, im sure saving peoples lives is so worth the stress you endured in the classes.

  • @hetnerd It varies between where you take the course. Mine is roughly going to cost close to 1,000$

  • The joy of sex used to have an instructional video during the late 80's. It looks surprisingly like this.

  • I have been on and off (going to through a different major now in college) as an EMT-B for about 3 years. I loved doing what I did and still do! To be able to save someones life when you see them at their worst or best is an unmatched, unparalleled feeling that never stops amazing me! In knowing that I have saved someone who could one day be of great importance to the USA then I am all for it and encourage people out there to take a CPR class of sorts so you can be prepared. You never know!!

  • @heathnugget do you have to take anatomy and physiology before becoming a emt.

  • Here there are colleges that offer the EMT course which takes a semester or two, not fully certain. There is also private companies that offer EMT courses. I'm lucky where I am, EMS service here has a EMT-B course that is only 4 weeks long, fastest one I have seen.

  • @droudenbush1 contact me at mike15sofly@yahoo.com on EMT coures that are 4 weeks

  • Why doesn't he just use a pulse oximeter instead of counting the pulse rate. Goodness, was this video made in the 20th century?

  • @DVDluvr123 you should count the pulse anyway, otherwise you'll have no idea about the rhythm and character.

  • @Dragill Yeah, that was months ago when I made that comment. I was fascinated by technology at that time. I've changed my way of thinking since then. I agree with what you said. You need to be hands-on and find out exactly what is going on. Well, until something like the Star Trek tricorder gets invented.

  • A good way to get respirations on an alert patient is to take their pulse and then fold the arm across their chest. The patient will think you are taking their pulse and breath normally. Then after 30 seconds when you get the pulse you can use the other 30 to feel the chest rise and fall.

  • Very Very good and valuable information

thanks so much for posting this now i will be more prepared!

  • haha pick another job choice... i am a emt-P..... its a wastse of life.... working 50-65 hours a week... most of the calls are bullshit.. Then you have the nasty ones that keep you up at night... and you become sucidal.... I still cant get over me letting that 8 year old girl die.. i tried my best but failed.. things like that are horrible... So get a desk job a wife and never go thourgh that... why couldnt that girl live

  • @anthony21222 Well im about to go school for becoming a EMT and i see some of the things you have said. Not thats it going to stop me but U say you have seen some of the nasty ones, can u explain? And did u get help from seeing that 8 yr old girl die?

  • @anthony21222 calm down man dont go off discouraging people from doing something they want just because you couldnt handle certain situations you went through as an emt-p

  • @thegame245 I am Just letting peple know how this job really is. The choice is theirs

  • @43FIRERESCUE43 what is recommended for someone before they take the emt b class? because im a junior in hs if i dnt go to college this is mi second choice

  • do whatever you want to do in life, but still go to college! if you dont go to college itll be a big mistake! be the best at whatever your passionate about, and the only way to do that is to get a degree! they offer degrees in fire sciences and paramedicine, look into it..

  • @lordice123 technically you have to go to college to be an EMT.

  • @winnryautomail a 1 semester cert class is not equivalent to an AS or a BA degree

  • @lordice123 I didn't say that did i? i don't know where u r from but out here only colleges offer EMT training. No u don't get an AS or BA degree but u get a certification and then u apply for the EMT license.

  • @winnryautomail you said "technically you have to go to college to be an EMT" I concurred and said BUT it is not the same value as getting a BA or an AS in something, even if it is still within EMS, and I am from california.

  • @lordice123 Just because you take a course in college does not mean you are gonna get ANY type of degree -__- So don't assume just because I said you have to go to college to be an EMT that you will automatically get a BA OR AS. And no duh its not the same as a BA or AS, I didn't even say it was. So stop jumping to conclusions to make yourself appear smart, cause its not working.

  • @winnryautomail ok you are 100% right and you win if it makes you feel any better

  • @cee4pres nothing just sign up for the class

  • nice... but partly borring..

  • Thanks..It was kinda boring, but VERY imformative.. I plan on hitting up an EMT-Basic class as soon as I turn 16 in September! Message me for any tips or anything please!!! Im very shy when it comes to learning new things..I need a smuch heads-ups as you can give.

  • Its usually... Oh I've felt this way for about 3 weeks.

  • teehee thats what i was gunna say!:P but he also said he had chest pain:(

  • Sadly this is the majority of EMS calls.

  • wow, i thought i wanted to be a paramedic

but this seems so boring and i really thought i was up for it too.

  • lol its not boring like this

  • LOL glade to knw

  • scraping children off the road from a car accedint isnt boring.:( its very sadd but yah this video looks boring
