Believe it or not they were not a super group in the true definition.

Delp and Scholz use write together. The rest of the band was added as studio artists and then they took off. The original album was actually recorded in Delp's basement. CBS didn't want to use Scholz recordings so they pulled off a ruse with the record company.  The recordings at the CBS studio were never used on the first album. It was all Scholz remastering his tapes.

@madgoose66 You're right about Delp and Scholz writing together, and that the band was added later (T&B were originally the only 2 signed artists on the label) but incorrect about the recordings. Check out the band website, it gives a very detailed description of how the first album came to be. There's no mention of Delp having a studio. You're right about the ruse, but it was because Scholz' felt more comfortable in his own studio versus a professional one.
