haha! I love the nickle, dime and quarter rant at the end.
Come to think of it, I usually do pick up pennies. But I suppose with the inconsistencies of how often I pick up a penny. I think I am only getting $6/hr...
Minimum wage rears it's ugly head into my life again... =/
What if instead of slowing down to pick up the penny you sped up and picked it up in some deft movement - saving time and making money. That would be not so much like a $12/hour job but more like some kind of lottery bonanza since it cost you no time and made you a completely tangible cent.
The best place for finding money is swimming pools at holiday resorts. I've made about €200 off those things. I was on a field trip to grand canaria and we were staying in a resort because package holidays are cheap and I found €20 in the pool. Now it takes more time to dive down to the bottom and pick up the notes but I'd say making €20 in 15 seconds is still worth it ;)
@rorkimaru Not to mention, tossing things to into the pool and diving to get them was always a game I played at the pool when I was younger. Now there's just more of an incentive!
i would say your math is wrong if you find a place with more than one penny within arms reach i would say that additional pickups would only add another 1 ½ seconds to said time
so thus 3 pennies within 6 seconds is much better than 3 in 9
No detail of this life is worth leaving unexamined it seems. Personally I try to ignore the ground which after all just wants to hang on to me so that I can't soar away reaching my full potential, or outer space.
BTW, are you familiar with the Godz Poodlz song, "Bad Penny"?
And did you know the base metals that make a penny now worth more than a penny? It costs almost 2 cents to make penny. It costs more than 7 cents to make a nickel.
@fecklessman Hey, Bud! Of course I remember you and "The Perfect Place" from MOSF 4. This is Russ. I met The Peter through his being in MOSF5 with the Poodlz! I don't think Rhod has a YouTube channel, but we have a shared channel at GodzPoodlz.
Song Fu is on hiatus. But Spintown is starting up a new Song Contest. Sign ups run until June 10. Lots of Song Fu vets are involved.
@RockingJamboree nice, man. ;-D i didn't know peter did mosf5, i didn't know anything about that edition. we meant to sign up for it, but we got busy and the guys that ran the site were kind of... unorganized. may have to check out the other one, but we are without musical instruments at the moment.
This reminds be of a Father Guido Sarducci (Don Novello) bit on how "Happy Birthday to You" is redundant. How if we all agreed to just cut out the repetitive parts of ""Happy Birthday to You" and just get to the meat of the song, "Happy Birthday, Dear Peter. Happy Birthday to You." By the time your life was over, you would save almost 6 minutes of time, essentially live six minutes longer for not having repeated two redundant "Happy Birthday to You" lines over and over again!
I'd pick up the penny. I like to look at the dates on money and think about where its been, so I waste about a minute. I should probably stop picking up spare change off the ground then if I thought about how much time that wastes.
This is too true. What an astute person you are! And I'm pretty sure I fall into the "intangible gain" category in that seeing change on the ground and picking it up gives me a brief feeling that I am fortunate and gives me something to be grateful about. The only way to achieve that is by happening to come across something rare. I'd be equally excited about, for example, seeing a dandelion to kick. The little things can be what makes life worth living.
I am eagerly awaiting a video response to one of your videos from that guy who makes them for like, all the time (I saw your tweet about how he subscribed).
All three retail stores I've worked at had money picker-uppers.
One of my co-workers was having money problems, so when I would sweep at the end of the night, I'd call her over to get any coins I swept up. She also picked them up during the day.
The mall I worked at in Ohio and the one here both have old men that walk around picking up coins. (That I don't understand. Driving to the mall to pick up coins. The amount they get doesn't make up for what's spent on gas. And they do it daily.)
you assumed the precise facial expression of a surprised Japanimation character a la Speed Racer or DragonballZ, etc. I didn't know it actually existed
I know that's a compliment, and I should be happy to be ascending in quality, but I can't help feel like I need to defend my previous videos. It's like you're saying they aren't as good. That's the problem with posting every day I guess. Usually between videos I can shift my focus and only love one video at a time, but right now I still like all my recent ones.
Ok, that face when you spot the penny is priceless. Seriously, I've screenshot it and everything.
And, like the little kid that I am inside, I pick up pennies for good luck, even if they aren't heads up. So my decision is based on neither of your principles, HA!
It makes me really happy to know that there are people who enjoy this sort of no thrills analysis the most, but it also makes me feel bad since more often than not I'm not making this kind of thing.
why am i watching this?

MATH. MATH.
.. basic math?
Good analysis--now I can properly know just how useless those pennies I do pick up are.
I like to bend pennies in my spare time. It takes about 5-7 seconds per penny for a basic bend, and doesn't really give me any financial gain.
