    Yerr...

we recently boughy a pure bred Boxer with a short tail..

They breed the boxer with a quagy and 4 out of 10 pups will be born with a short tail exactly like a docked tail.

after 11 generations the quagy is bred out and the boxer is agen a pure breed.

So yerr more money but it is till worth it.

yea they stopped being cruel to boxers about 3 years ago, and since then there hip problems have eased because they have something to wag now instead of wiggling there hips.

the most barbaric thing to happen to an animal is to remove one of its balance aids, now they have tails they seem just right.

  • lol i like the dog, and the zydeco in the background!

  • I have a Boxer and his tail is not docked.

First of all its not allowed over here and, more important, the tail is there for a reason .... think about it

  • Have you ever been whipped by your dog when he stands next to you and wags his tail? It's painful.

Anyway, I have had boxers with and without docked tails and I prefer the docked tail. It did not affect their agility or balance.

  • but it affects their communication to others ;) and yes I have been whipped by my dogs .... and i know its painful ;)

  • I never saw a Boxer that had a tail. My sister was wondering why they dock them anyways; especially if the owners aren't planning on putting the dog in dog shows.

  • It's more tradition

They used to use Boxers to hunt

  • I am not sure if you are still interested in the answers any more but part of the reason that boxers usually get their tails docked is the same reason you get their 5th claw removed from all of their paws, if they are running around and playing a lot they can get them caught and seriously damage themselves. Ergo the tail and 5th claw of each paw is removed for their safety as well as aesthetic reasons

  • people usually do cos they think in makes them look better but it dosent

  • one story goes that when boxers were used to work, in fields and so on their tails were overly long and could easily end up infected, so it was better that way for them. my boxer is 1 1/2 years old and still has his tail, there isnt need to remove it.

  • I wish my boxer that I rescued still had his tail!!! Some jerk put a rubber band on it and it looks horrible, I am sure it hurt at the time too!

  • cute dog!
