the fact that he doesn't mind about damaging his pinky suprises me seeing as the dexterity of the fingers is very important to a magician-if i couldn't straighten my pinky there would be numerous tricks and sleights i could no longer do-clipshift, pass, four for four switch, supermoveetc. I don't think david blaine knows much complex sleight of hand to do with cards- most of his tricks just involve forces, double/tripple lifts, controls and palming, which are all easy

wow.. I did the exact same thing to my pinky, EXACTLY the same thing. but I was stabbing through a phone book, my hand slid down the grip and almost completly severed my pinky off, it has never went straight since the operation to reattach the tendon. luckily I was holding the knife backwards or it would have severed the tendons in the middle of my hand and all of my fingers would've been immobile. I feel your pain bro, I feel your pain, maybe thats why he stopped doing magic.

if you pause the video at 2:16 or 2:18, you can see how the cards are placed in the middle(count that area if you want). Then when he stabbs the knife and removes the menu you see the card that wasn't there anymore.

Just FYI, at 2:27, Blaine's hand slips and he actually cut his pinkey deeply during this effect. As a result, he suffered nerve damage and lost the ability to close it (or open it, forgive me I forget) all the way. At 2:41 you can see the dark blood coming from his pinkey.

Well, He shows the card to everybody so what i assume is the waiter/waitress has another deck and just picks out the card he shows, place it in the menu between 2 pages so you cant see it,( Thats why he holds the menu in secure way so it wont fall out ) and then he just jams the knife in where the card is...
