BTW: I wasn't meaning to replace English. My thing is that, countries can have two (or more) official languages. It just means the gov't would be formally recognising that language as part of the national identity. Case in point, Canada recognises both English and French. I think elevating Hindi would be a way to celebrate diversity in sweet T&T. Thanks to the East Indian community we are able to get some sweet sweet music like this. The Indian identity is very much a significant part of T&T.

Some Indians still speak it so I think the government recognising it would be a positive thing going forward. It doesn't mean anybody is taking over or other common "arguments" as have been made in the past it just means that segment of the population is officially recognised as a part of the overall Trini identity and the government accepts it as that.
