I was at this game. This was built up as the game of the century. FSU just kicked UM ass. What amazed me was how the FSU band and fans dominated the atmosphere at Michigan Stadium. Of the dozen or so UM games I have been to, I never witnessed that before.
Man...the good ole days of the Noles, haha, DeZ Howard was in Beast Mode the entire game, lol any guy out there challengin Terrell Buckley HAD to be beastin
@m2diggs the camera is on the field level and most of the Nole fans were in the South endzone at ground level so thus adding to the noise on that side. I remember being at this game and hearing drowning mocking chears of "FUCK THE SEMINOLES!" but seriously we were beaten by the best that day.
As an FSU alum, this is in my top 3 as far as favorite games. I watched this at Fuzzy's Place in Atlanta and had a blast. Fuzzy was a former Univ. of Georgia player, but he was at least as excited as I was. Fuzzy's brother also worked at the place and fiinally had to ask him to quiet down after it became obvious FSU was going to win.
The lack of a kicking game on FSU's part was the only thing that kept this one remotely close. Michigan had a good team and never laid down but FSU rolled.
Love to play FSU again, but I wouldn't want to do it the same way thou. Right after playing ND! In 91 they played FSU the next week, but was without Derrick Alexander, AA Center Steve Everitt (broke his jaw vs nd), All Big ten Corner Lance Dottin (injured ) and one other major defensive injury really hurt playing fsu. Fsu had a great team then and UM had they played them before all the injuries had more then a shot to beat them, with all the injuries it wasn't the same team.
No one really beat FSU in the 90's. I think they had 9 loses in 10 years, 3 of those loses coming in National Championships. UM would of probably still of lost even at 100%.
nc st had fsu number mid - late 90's - virginia end the acc streak. vs the neb the ncaa gave fsu a win and you know it. phantom flag on the kick return for a td. feel good about having a 28 year old as your qb for the second title - earn the win, dont ask for it.
#2. NC State beat the Seminoles 1 time in the 90's, so how is that "having there number.?"
#3. UVA beat FSU once, in 1995. One time. What's your point?
#4. Phantom flag? GTFO.
#5. Weinke was one of the best college QBs of all time. Went 33-3, wire-to-wire, and led his team to three consecutive MNC games. How did he not "earn the win"... no one "asked for it."
I dunno why I'm even responding to you. You're intelligence is of a 5th grader, with down syndrome.

man, ur cold busted. u want to pick n choose - u can str8 out the error I "purposely" make, but u wont check the errors of the ncaa. is that what they teach u in school - coward shyt.
93 - floyd never crossed the endzone, the phantom flag on the return. 94 penn st. unfeated didnt share title with neb.
93 cheated - 99 mr 28 vs kids - n the killer is they go back the following year n do nothing but 2 points by the def.
i never called u a fan of fsu, u said u like lsu - so dont put word in my mouth, english is not my language, b/c im not from england, just like the rest of the slave athletes that r on ur lsu team or any other. fake shyt cuz it not a sport - its a business. no playoffs

just keep on picking n choosing. u'll bring in the race card - but i said where do they come from - thats a location. fakeass chico. stick to soccer. at least they have a playoff system.
Final score of 31 - 51 if I remember correctly. That's almost unheard of for the Wolverwienies to give 51 points up at home in football. Not that I minded, of course. Even better, for me, was seeing the Washington Huskies pulverize the Wolverwienies 34 - 14 in the Rose Bowl in a game that wasn't that "close." Anytime the Miss-again Wolverwienies lose, no matter WHAT the sport, it's a GOOD DAY for me!!
I went to that Rose Bowl when UW smacked Michigan upside down left right . It was great talking sh*t to michigan fans and their heisman trophy winner.
Steve Emtman OWNED Miss-again's O-line that day. And remember, in the days leading up to the game he got sick and had a fever of over 100 degrees! Just imagine how bad they could have beaten those pompous jerks if Steve Emtman had been HEALTHY!
Does anyone know where I can find Florida State games on DVD? I know someone out there has recorded or have master tapes they are willing to duplicate and sell. Please advise. Thanks.
I was attending FAMU those days man. I remember screaming my lungs out in glee as Terrell Buckley ran back that INT. Hell Yeah!!!! I knew it was on then when he got that pick and ran it in for 6.
I am sorry, I have to go with 1989 UM vs. FSU. There were so many hits that game it wasn't even funny. Dexter Carter's sweep to the left side for the first score of the game and that booming lick on Leonard Conley from Leroy Butler (I think) are the 2 plays that stands out the most to me from that game.
Even though I'm a 'Cane, I respect FSU as an opponent & loved watching every minute of this game. Speed kills - even through unkempt long grass on the playing field. D.Howard vs.T-Buck all afternoon was fun to watch. Was funny to look back & see 3rd string QB Charlie Ward line up as a WR, get a pass from Weldon, then throw it back to him. Too bad out of conference match ups like this between big schools don't happen as much.
Also, don't forget that NFL veteran quarterback Brad Johnson was the second string quarterback that year, and was the holder for the field goals and extra points.. FSU was incredibly deep back then..
@AMorrell14 No... Actually, Weldon was the starter, Brad Johnson was the backup QB, and Charlie Ward was the 3rd string quarterback (and backup punter).
Several things about this game. 1) Michigan field was nothing but crap. They let the grass grow to try to slow us down, but there were holes all over this field. 2) This was just an ass kicking by the Noles. 3) The trick play where Casey caught and ran was one of the hardest hits he ever took in college. He told me it really hurt.
Excellent video. I was only 9 years old in 1991 but this remains my favorite Florida State game of all time. For me it really captures the essence of FSU football in the 1980s and early 1990s: beating a highly ranked traditional power on the road with big plays and tricks. Buckley's pick 6 on the first play of the game really set the tone, and the "Crocodile" trick play on the next drive was vintage Bowden (how cool is it to see Charlie as a sophomore passing to Weldon?).
I agree completely. This was 'Noles football; and I'm a UW Huskies Fan. Oh, wait, didn't we win the Co-National Championship this year? Big ups to whomever posted these clips!
Right, because Bobby Bowden started his string of getting kickers who forgot that the uprights were narrowed that year. The phrase "wide right" haunted, I mean haunted, some very good FSU teams in the 1990s, and caused them to lose another NC or 2, I feel. Just MHO.......
Michigan was a good team, but FSU ripped them a new asshole in this game. Im still baffled how FSU lost to Miami that year, that Miami team wasn't great.
That's true, Miami as a team wasn't great that year, but they had a very good defense, and a capable offense. Their starting linebackers were all future NFL studs, Darrin Smith, Michael Barrow and Jesse Armstead. On offense, they had a good quartet of receivers. On the other hand, the 'Noles were absolutely stacked on both sides of the ball, and they were playing at home..
I remember a quote from an FSU player that year in reference to FSU's loss to the 'canes that year. It was something like: "We thought we were going to win that game. They KNEW they were going to win it." Back in those days the 'canes had FSU beat even before kickoff whenever they played in football.
I swear Casey Weldon was at my school for the great american teach in.
