I have got e39 523i and I think of has better acceleration than yours one... maybe something is not right with your car.

e39 523i :

1 gear = max 60 km/h

2 gear = max 90 km/h

3 gear = max 140 km/h in your max 130

4 gear = max 180 km/h in your max 160 ?

5 gear = max speed

Your car has tall final drive as my 96 528i, it makes 220 km/h @ 4000 rpm in 5th gear, amazingly tall ratio final drive (2.93:1).
