@KEVINSAWESOME1 I don't know which breed lives the longest, but if you get one from a hearty gene pool, like the Burmese, and of course you take great care of it, it's bound to have a long life. My first cat was a domestic shorthair, and she lived for about 21 years.

We had one for 'round fourteen years, but we recently had to humanely euthanize her due her very bad health (seriously, she was blind, had kidney problems, a heart murmur, got bald when stressed, and in the end, lost her sense of orientation...) She was a Chocolate Tortoiseshell :)

One kitten I had found in the woods 19 years ago had just died.A lot of himalayan and siamese cats I know seem to die of kidney disease, heart problems or neoplaisa at an early age.I see a lot of this because I am a vet tech. Besides, all cats need homes!

@WhyImAwsome That's not necessarily true. The more varied the genetics of the cat (or dog, or even human) are, the healthier they'll be. That's why breeders are supposed to be so careful with what animals they breed together. If they're over-bred or inbred, their offspring can be very unhealthy. Random-bred cats can be equally as healthy as a purebred, if not healthier.

Abyssinian are a very sweet kind of cat.. But you really have to watch out for their teeth. Mine had a serious problem.. We ended up putting her down.. But yes, There are one of the smartest breeds yet!

I have 2 Abbys and believe me, you won't regret it. I could hardly wish for a better cat. One thing about abyssinians is, that they develop a special relationship with one family member, usually of the oposite sex. Our male cat loves my mom because she feeds them, but our female cat loves me, and I'm a girl. xD So there are exceptions.

I'm not sure I can take this seriously. My cat accepts to be held quite fine. Doesn't love it for the most part, but as long as I hold it, it won't try to escape. Let my hands go, and the cat runs away. After a while, she jumps in the lap again.

They are very socially. They love to sleep in your bed. One time, it slept side-by-side of me, just like a human ;)

They are "special" when it comes to food. They don't eat everything you give them. And fresh water!

I had an abyssinian, and he did reject to being picked up and placed in the lap, but if you let him stay on the floor and you sat down in a chair, he would jump up to you and start cuddling you. <3 You just need to know how to handle its personality :3 they all have unique ones.

They just say the same things for cats because they're not very varied. Dogs are much more diverse because they have been domesticated/bred much longer than cats.

Cats are overall more intelligent because of this too. And that's why they're so independent.

I reacted to that too. My abyssinian would run after people and complain, loudly, whenever he didn't get his cuddles. If he still didn't get what he wanted, he would run over and lightly but firmly put his teeth over your foot. He'd never bite, it was just him telling his stupid humans to do what they were there for. Sort of "STAND STILL AND LOVE ME, DARN YOU!". He was the sweetest cat. Purred as soon as you looked at him, and just wanted to snuggle all day long.

Your cat doesn't have to belong to any breed at all. If he doesn't have a pedigree, then he technically doesn't, even if he by any chance would have one or two pure bred parents. Also, non-pedigree cats far outnumber pure bred cats, so chances are pretty good that your cat is just an ordinaty domestic cat. Not belonging to a breed certainly does not mean that the cat is worth any less. At this time, I myself own two regular non-pedigree cats, and I love them to bits.

Abyssinians are the best! EVER!! As I was watching this, My 4-month old red kitten is knocking things off the counter to play with! Haha! No, he isn't really a 'lap cat' as he wants to play and explore, but he does have his 'cuddle bug' moments where he purrs and purrs and loves on you and will nap with you or lay on you. I've never heard a cat purr as much as him. He is very smart, too. I have a video of him on my channel fetching!! Go check it out if you don't believe me!

@meganmichele I do know what you mean, when I got my abby/tabby mix back in may (I didn't know what breed(s) she was) she would find the darnedest things the play with. My Sister has her brother and he is the same way my girl is a Long hair. She is a jumper so at night we have to be careful as she will jump you just to play and I have to make sure the window in my room is clear for her.
