The team was going to be named "Houston 1836", but it created some sort of a controversy among the hispanics in town. So, they boycotted the name, and were given the name Dynamos, who played in the Lone Star Soccer alliance.
qwest is a modern stadium built for both gridiron and soccer. giants stadium was only made for the jets/giants even though the cosmos sold pretty well there
i'm not from seattle, i don't really care about that city. but i will acknowledge that the majority of their fans are so well in tuned to the game judging by the stadium's reaction to every single instances happening on the field. so what if most of them are plastic, i prefer a passionate fanbase that can read the game over those who sing and chant and not care what goes on and all the fucking hooligans that just want to start trouble.
All the people saying seattle has best fans well I guess the best fans need a big screen to tell them to hold there scarves up, Portland and Vancouver will be 10x louder and better support in 2011, and if DCU had there own stadium it would be the loudest place in all of mls they make a huge stadium seem full.
I went to the game, it was intense all 90+. everyone in the stadium was standing for the complete game. It was, despite the ref... great. Both teams have a very good defense. But I felt the Dynamo had a little help from their official. Take the official factor out and you could have a real battle down south for the next game.
lol I feel bad for you guys you really have a swearing ban?? you got to be the only team in MLS that doesn't say you fat bastard or PUTO after a goal kick.
Because Montero embellished and acted like he got shot by a sniper. Onstad still would have gotten a yellow if Montero had stayed on his feet. Not a Houston fan either just my two cents.
Montero did not dive, and the only "embellishing" was after he lost his balance and was falling. All players do that. No fucking way he deserved a yellow, and Onstad 100% deserved a red.
omstad gets a yellow for bumping, montero gets a yellow for embellishment but then omstad gets up pretending he got hit in the eye? isn't that embellishment? ESPN should stop calling this the "beautiful" game with crap like that. ref was out of control. jaqua had blood running down his face and no cards were thrown. bizarre.
ESPN aren't the only ones that call it "the beautiful game" it's been called that for a while. And so what if Jaqua was bloody. would you have him come off and cry like they do in other sports? this is soccer. this is how it's played.
AT 1 35 Onstad commits a red card foul on Montero. Salazar can see it but he plays for houston, I guess, so he won't call it. He'd rather wait til later when Montero draws attention to the problem to through up the cards. AT 2 12 Onstad then fakes victim just to show on camera that he is an old fool.
A lot of cities have good support but Seattle is up there because they sell out the lower bowl of Qwest Field (an American football stadium), it's loud and it feels like Europe. But DC United has a core fanbase (too bad they don't play in a good stadium), LA Galaxy has good support as does Houston, Chicago and Columbus. NYC is moving into their own stadium next year and it only hold 22,000 so they may have a great atmosphere.
I'm a New England/Seattle Fan I saw them play each other in Seattle and that was a rough rough game for me to cheer for. So you know me being a NE Revs fan i'm not a DC fan. but i do agree with you. DC should have it's own stadium. I think the Revs should too. and to go out on a limb here. So should KC.
Yes By far. This region of the US has long been a huge supporter of football/soccer. Almost all children growing up in Western Washington participate in youth soccer, which gives them an early love of the game.
cpsscoccer13, are you an idiot... how many fouls were called on dynamo vs the sounders.. almost 3times as many fouls... how in the fuck does that translate into seattle battling 11 men in orange and 4 in black.. what a f-ing moron... go back to playing yugio cards you muppet, leave the real football to real fans...
I'm a huge Houston Dynamo fan, but I have a respect for Sounders Seattle FC and its fans.
Sounders is a fantastic team.

I watched this on TV over here.
Physical, fast, organised, intense, with a pumping atmosphere.
It seems that soon people are going to have to start giving the MLS some respect.
Best 0-0 I've seen in a good while.
