There is only ONE religion I'm in,and that is the Church Of The Latter Day Yukkuris.It is unique among religions because there are no deities or codes to follow.
Life without any sort of hope to continue living will be dreadful, why? because many will not care about killing one another for possessions. I there were no religion Selling Drugs, Prostitution, killing, raping, stealing etc, Never come to an end. Religion or God to be specific will end all of that?.

To be honest as an atheist I'm slightly torn. You know that all the people in real positions of power in religious circles are all atheists just like us. So is it a benefit to us atheists that there are so many laity that actually believe? Everyone currently in power looks at the religious laity and sees an opportunity. Ralph Reed is probably my hero - they are there to make a lot of money from the human disposition to feeling hope. And there's no morality against it since god doesn't exist.
I identify as an atheist not because I "Hate God" or anything like that, but because the teachings of every major (and less widespread) religion can leave people with good take home messages, even if you leave out the mysticism and unable-to-be-proven accounts and events.
I don't believe in a God because there are so many good ones out there, as their stories are told and understood, how could I justify picking a single one of them?

"Fact" is an observation or event which can be repeated and shown to be true for a given set of circumstances. A fact about evolution is, for example, is that offspring share the traits of both parents.
"Theory" has a much broader scope and involves a complete explanation of all of the known facts about a specific model or area.
Often new facts are found which either fit with the theory (A good theory should be able to predict these before they arise) or they don't. If not then the theory is either modified till they do or it is "disproven" and replaced with a completely new theory which does fit all of the old and new facts.
Many people share the same ignorance and do not even know what the word "theory" really means in a scientific context; it certainly does not mean "stuff some guy made up" - and I must admit, I can't stand when people use the word, as you do, to attack a scientific work without an understanding of the scientific method and the true contextual meaning of the word...I should be more tolerant, I know...it's amazing how words have different meanings for everyone though.
However, based on most religious folks, you believe you know the truth. If you were really honest with yourself you would claim that you only believe because your afraid and you want to survive your death and live forever. That, my friend, ain't gonna happen and believing it doesn't make it true.

The ancient Romans used an 8-day cycle before adopting the Julian calendar, for example. Some cultures have (or had) 4-day "weeks", or 5, or 9, or 10-day "weeks". Even our 7-day week and our calendar as a whole is pretty inaccurate, because we have to add an entire day to our calendar every four years (leap year). Can you explain where the leap year came from (biblically)?

The comment about using "a god" with a small "g" is correct in saying that otherwise is admitting to existence of god. I think after so many years of persecution by believers that we "the non-believers" should push back--HARD. As hard as we can, because if we let up, the believers will burn us at the stake to make themselves feel better or right. We fight back with every means possible, to cast off the yoke of oppression that religion has laid on mankind since the dawn of time.
For me, being an atheist and a free thinker means accepting my ignorance, the limitless of my power, the short time I will live on earth, the errors I made and sharing with others the hope that I have about what we can do here. You must also realize that the word 'theory' holds much more weight in science than it does to your every day joe blow. You are most likely thinking of a theory as a hypothesis. The fact is, in scientific fields of study when something graduates to being called a theory that means that it has been tested and proven beyond a reasonable doubt. Evolution is a fact.

Theory does not mean 'untestable,' theory means that it's something which has been backed up by all observed data and controvened by no observed data. The difference between a theory and a scientific law is that scientific law is a concise statement of a fundamental principle, which always applies under the same circumstances. Laws do not explain the mechanism of phenominon, theories do.
From my own experience I find 'most' people are living without religion. So many claim to be religious but don't abide by or follow any particular set of rules or guidelines placed by their religious organization. It's a bunch of bullshit and they all know it. I believe that Disgust is the worst mental disease in the world, some cultures train young men to feel disgust against women, against contemplation and against compassionate thought. Some cultures train our Women to feel disgust towards their own bodies. Some cultures train everyone to feel disgust towards colored people or poor people. "Fact" is an observation or event which can be repeated and shown to be true for a given set of circumstances. A fact about evolution is, for example, is that offspring share the traits of both parents.
"Theory" has a much broader scope and involves a complete explanation of all of the known facts about a specific model or area.

The ancient Romans used an 8-day cycle before adopting the Julian calendar, for example. Some cultures have (or had) 4-day "weeks", or 5, or 9, or 10-day "weeks". Even our 7-day week and our calendar as a whole is pretty inaccurate, because we have to add an entire day to our calendar every four years (leap year). Can you explain where the leap year came from (biblically)?

...btw, secularism is already taking hold and growing in the U.S. Every time a religious zealot pukes out their bigotry another agnostic emerges. Reason will eventually supersede superstition. It's pathetic to dismiss evolution for an ancient fairy tale of demons and angels, omniscient war lords and the repulsive idea of original sin. The comment about using "a god" with a small "g" is correct in saying that otherwise is admitting to existence of god. I think after so many years of persecution by believers that we "the non-believers" should push back--HARD. As hard as we can, because if we let up, the believers will burn us at the stake to make themselves feel better or right. We fight back with every means possible, to cast off the yoke of oppression that religion has laid on mankind since the dawn of time.

For me, being an atheist and a free thinker means accepting my ignorance, the limitless of my power, the short time I will live on earth, the errors I made and sharing with others the hope that I have about what we can do here. It is being both able to appreciate the moment without asking questions and asking some tough questions by moments. I just want live with people having of deep desire of liberty in everything they are.

I love this vid! It's great to see us non-religious folks moving forward as opposed to staying in the shadows and snickering at the religious pukes. If it goes unabated it'll continue to grow. I want to see religion drown out through education and reason. This is a terrific movement.

I like the purpose behind this campaign, but there is one fundamental flaw. It refers to God as if he exists - the implied message being he exists, but you can ignore him. It should refer to "a god", with a small "g".

@martinotagliani That living organisms evolve over time is a fact. Natural selection is the theory we have to explain how life evolves. You must also realize that the word 'theory' holds much more weight in science than it does to your every day joe blow. You are most likely thinking of a theory as a hypothesis. The fact is, in scientific fields of study when something graduates to being called a theory that means that it has been tested and proven beyond a reasonable doubt. Evolution is a fact.

And how the evolution theory talk about all animals heaving the same common ancestral, thats a theory too. And by theory, it means it can't be made an experiment to confirm it.It can't be proven, but it makes sense.Therefore, evolution its a theory.

Theory does not mean 'untestable,' theory means that it's something which has been backed up by all observed data and controvened by no observed data. The difference between a theory and a scientific law is that scientific law is a concise statement of a fundamental principle, which always applies under the same circumstances. Laws do not explain the mechanism of phenominon, theories do.

From my own experience I find 'most' people are living without religion. So many claim to be religious but don't abide by or follow any particular set of rules or guidelines placed by their religious organization. It's a bunch of bullshit and they all know it. They are just afraid to say it and allow themselves to be driven by fear.

@SlapnutstunpalS : I suppose this comment is referring to how Religious leaders of all times have threatened non-believers with purgatory or hell - and still today how religious individuals either shake their heads in disgust and contempt or even call out the blame of natural disasters or terrible diseases because of the non-believers - I'm pretty sure this type of aggressive attitude is far more common - in my experience Atheists are by far more compassionate and tolerant

@SlapnutstunpalS I see. well, I am not trying to provoke, but I do have to point out that the meaning of the word "faith" in this context, only means "belief in something that we cannot prove or disprove, and for which there is no need in explaining the observed reality". Of course, we can use the word "faith" as in "I have faith in that the south pole exists, even though I have never been". But that confers little relation to the first meaning of the word.

I believe that Disgust is the worst mental disease in the world, some cultures train young men to feel disgust against women, against contemplation and against compassionate thought. Some cultures train our Women to feel disgust towards their own bodies. Some cultures train everyone to feel disgust towards colored people or poor people. This type I believe is destructive and dangerous to humankind.
