  • I'm curious. Do you practice this much at all before you record, or is your ability to read this great?

  • i cant wait to get an extra hi-hat just because of that beginning

  • i dont if my computer is lagging because i have bad connection or because this is to awesome. Help?

  • Your kit sounds so freaking good on this wow.

  • kind of a cool groove! like!!!!

  • Most awesome drum performance I heard since a while. Congrats Travis!

  • uh? that intro?!?! with the double hi hat part?!!? are you insane??!?

  • So so so so so so so so so GOOD!

  • I'm excited to hear about the new drum endorsement. When do you plan on officially announcing it?

  • That drum intro was epic and fantastic. You never fail to amaze and are constantly creative with fresh ideas.

  • duuuuuuuuuuude

  • dude Travis how tall are you? im guessing 5'10" !

  • @gonadiator Yo - Orbin is more like 6'1". Not a small dude. Not a bad drummer either - ha.

  • Travis! another awsome vid! can i just ask whenever the left camera angle is on there has constantly been what appears to be a large McDonalds drink carton/cup in this studio, is that what it is and if it is do i win a prize for spotting it........pretty please???

  • 7 minutes straight? screw you hahaha jk

  • how high do you set the tension on your pedals? i used to always have the tension as high as possible. recently i started to play around with it. i set it lower and felt i had more control, but had to work more for simple diddles from lack of spring back. i'd like to hear your input, because you have some really good, precise footwork in this vid.

  • is it just me or is the guitar in the right speaker louder?

  • Dyed in grey compliments Travis's style so perfectly

  • 1 dislike by the "punch-in police" ?

    ahahaha ;)

  • Dat intro fill.

  • @mooktank Pete P. trollin?!?! Hehe.

  • Travis I wonder if you play in any live band nowadays or are you 100% committed to studio sessions?

  • You need just a Tad more light in there

  • These newest videos have been my all time favorite

  • @tylerabbott :D

  • this is awesome dude! you influence so much of my fills. may I ask is this is in one take or not? thanks man! you're sick : D

  • @enjoi4486 Many punch-ins.

  • These are not charts, he`s just reading a fiction book.

  • solid

  • I don't know about anyone else but I could definitely use some vids from taylor on how he gets these drum sounds. Cause the snare in EVERY SINGLE ONE of your videos is just incredible. I mean it's all good, but the snare is just SOOOO incredible. I'm an aspiring recording engineer, and snare bleed is my number 1 problem right now.

  • @DCDJ456 Thankya. Look into some gating plugs.

  • @shaftninja Yeah i usually use a combination of an expander and a gate, and i've tried all kinds of mic positions, and the snare mic i have is supercardiod. I'm not sure what else i can do.

  • That was fucking sick.

  • I like how the cymbals are panned spectator perspective, good stuff

  • @WesRenaud Cymbals are panned from his POV.

  • @DamionChrist no, when he hits with his left on the left side it is on the right, sound wise meaning if you were standing in front of the kit that's where the spectator is, use a stereo, if he hits that china on his right it would be on the right in his seat, in the left on my speakers and anyone else who has stereo not mono, who friggin cares anyway......point being I thought it is cool how he hits a china with his right hand and it's panned left troll

  • That was fucking sick....

  • Love that snare sound

  • The Hi-Hat Pedaling starting around 5:19 was too epic! I wonder how you manage to come up with such ideas! Totally blown away Travis!

  • Flawless Victory!

  • Second best drummer called Travis!

  • @krag3r who is first?

  • How do you come up with these parts?! amazing :)

  • Orbo you never fail to be anything but amazing.. \m/

  • Don#t get me wrong i like crazy music with weird time signatures. well... kinda. cause the stuff travis does freaks me out most of the time. haha. he is like a machine! great work, even I can't really listen to it.

  • Not sure there's enough compression on that snare lololol

  • pathetic band, awesome drummer.

  • Your precision is flawless along with your technique! I would just like to see your own creativity in a drum solo and your showmanship :D

  • watching you makes me depressed on how much im not as good as you. :(

  • @atreyu101101 im pretty sure alot of people do lol

  • Every time I click on your vids I get more reassured that we don't play the same instrument... they may look and sound the same... but NOPE... you definitely play a something else I'm almost certain drummers aren't supposed to be able to do that...

  • wow

  • Orbinator does it again.

  • Hey Travis! What's your favorite stacker?

  • @npdrumming The one that I use, of course.

  • Travis is the man! And anyone who disagrees can go play bass or something.

  • That stack sounds godly.

  • CYBORGS HAVE TAKEN OVER. Travis the first machine that has a human appearance.

  • so recently found out that Travis is indeed an actual machine. so that explains everything.

  • By far my favorite. Travis and DIG, you are amazing. I only wish this song could stay an instrumental on the album. I know DIG has it in them to be a instrumental super group (in relation to the size of other instrumental groups) like Animals As Leaders or Scale The Summit to name only two.

  • @CrawfordDrummer thanks! We'll see about releasing an instrumental version of the record as well. A few people have asked for it as well.

  • @dyedingrey That would be sick, you guys are awesome.

  • @garrettmillerdrums Read the description.

  • @inimicalODDITY Still not as informative as I had hoped. It's not normal notation, what's with the numbers as noteheads, what do the numbers mean? I am more interested in hearing from Travis, how he prepares the track, writes and reads it when he records and how he works with the other band members to arrange the parts.

  • @garrettmillerdrums Look at the description on his vid for Pixieprog, one of his earlier vids. There's a legend on that transcription that explains the numbers... Although i still don't know how the heck he can read that, IF that's how he reads it lol

  • @romeo13x It's actually Guitar Pro annotation. The numbers represent a certain sound in the program, so you can actually play through the piece before you ever even print it off and work out all the kinks in the computer, then learn the version you want the first time.

  • @rhythmkeeper009 oh, cool to know, thanks. But on his Pixieprog transcription legend, the numbers represent notes such as bass hit, rimshot, ghost stroke, cymbal hits, etc etc... For anyone without or not savvy in Guitar Pro

  • @romeo13x Wow yea that stuff makes no sense to me. I don't get why he doesn't just use noteheads?! He's a mad scientist, I swear!

  • @garrettmillerdrums Why do people think Travis is reading charts? ...he has Good Housekeeping on that stand.

  • @garrettmillerdrums He has a link to all of them in the video description. You should enjoy them, they're all impressive!

  • @garrettmillerdrums he has the charts on the video description

  • @vanouro Yea, you're the 30th person to say that. I'd still like him to do a video about his process.

  • @garrettmillerdrums see the description, he uploads sheet music for every video

  • @GeneralMillss LOL 31.....

  • Samples on snare..

  • @zwek95

no. itsreal audio. i dont know where youre getting your facts from. but they are wrong

  • @howycwap @zwek95 These drums are blended with samples, yes - samples that Taylor and I took down. Sometimes samples are extremely helpful when building a solid mix. The DiG stuff sounds mighty, distinguished, and defined. There are plenty of videos on my channel that feature 100% natural drums.

  • @shaftninja

my mistake, i apologize to the guy (shouldnt of been a dick)

i just thought you used naturals on all recordings

  • @zwek95

    sorry disregard douchebag comment

  • Next time in town, what are the chances of me popping by for a drum recording lesson :P check out my vids for an idea as to where i am at in my Drum Audio Engineering career

  • @MasonBangsDrums Hit Taylor up on his FaceBook, maybe he'll give you some lessons.

  • Wow the beginning is pure awsomeness

  • thanks, and great vids keep it up!

  • Oh, and I also like the unusually long session here :).

  • hey travis could possibly help me out here? My problem is that im learning heels up,( as i have drummed heels down for four years and need more power and stamina and speed and control, i can only go about 220-230 heels down and i need faster speeds for my band.) and i absolutely cannot perform the motion (of which i know how to do correctly) with my right foot only. i can bass well with my left but not my right. is there something i can do away from the set, i dont have a lot of time to play :(

  • @xam154 You should look into my 'barehand / barefoot' lesson that I sell out of my Big Cartel store for something you can do away from the kit. And geez, faster than 220-230? Tell your band mates to take some Xanax or something, haha.

  • @shaftninja Ahahaha, alright i'll check it out, thanks a lot man. keep up the solid work!

  • look at that pure unadulterated concentration! D:

  • Manly beard is manly, you must get many women with it ;).

  • I can't wait for this release!!

  • Just crazy. Drum sound, playing, patterns, everything. Hats off to you, Jesus looking man on drums.

  • unreal mr

  • honestly, how long did it take you to learn this?

  • @Drummerdudeftw I rehearsed it initially just moments before tracking. Thankfully, Will was patient; then again, he didn't really have anywhere to go on account of the snow, haha.

  • Am i the only one who smiles like this :D whenever theres a video from Travis?

  • Hats at the top, cleeeeeaaaaaaaannnnnnnnn.

  • simply awesome.

  • so legit

  • 1st comment and this is amazing dude!
