I think the internet may be well over 1000 TB considering the massive amount of files on file sharing websites like mediafire, megaupload, torrents, ect- but then again a lot of the data may also be duplicates like for example 2 people upload the same music album or something. So we may never know the size of the internet over all but all we know it expands in TB's every day. Every post you make on a website makes it even bigger.
@hempheadfor20 Yeah I'm of by a lot of Petabytes with that estimate. There is just so much music, pictures, videos, games, and other stuff that would make 1000 TB in total look really small. But I still stand by my statement that it grows in TB's every day or even hour because it just does. There are probably millions of people uploading and posting things to the internet at any given moment.
Yeah in 2006 4 TB was an insane amount of storage. These days 4 TB is a LOT cheaper and easier to come by. Back then you were paying around a dollar per gig, average. These days it's 10 cents a gig or cheaper on average. (for mainstream stuff of course). 2006: 4TB= $4000(ish) 2010: 4TB = $400(ish)
Considering those numbers, this video is all the more impressive.
No one cares how much child porn storage you have snedie69er. These are most likely Scsi drives which are far faster and about 50x more expensive then your shitty sata2 drives.
i have 5 TB :-) use it for vmware server, runs as my router, content filter, file server, DNS, DHCP, WINS, and web server. the storage space is used mainly for my video editing projects and ripped DVD collection for instant viewing from my HTPC via Gigabit ethernet. RAID 5 performance from 6 drives is about 530 MBps or 4.24 Gbps
Hahahahahaha, I like how everyone suspects it's porn. He's probably formatting them or something. You'd need 50 or so clients work up usage like that.
