@NLonDS They call it a flying brick since it descends at such a high rate. It does fly smooth otherwise it would be quite difficult to land. And have you played SSM 2007? Its loads better than Orbiter. Hands down.

Space Shuttle Mission 2007 is soooo much more better. I started off on orbiter, nailed the landing on my second try. Ive had SSM for 4 months, and only now can I land the flying brick flawlessly.

@mrdoctor4891 About the flying brick.. Every Commander or Pilot you ask how the shuttle flies, you will get the answer that it flies almost as smooth as a jet fighter.. I seriously doubt if SSM 2007 is better..

@Felipe140396 You don't turn on the main engines during landing, as there is no fuel for them. You can fire the OMS engines by hitting the "+" sign, but the engines don't have enough thrust in the atmosphere to make a difference in landing.  You have to land "dead-stick" with no power just by gliding in. The RCS thrusters may fire if you have the RCS activated, but again, in the atmosphere, they have little effect.

Good landing! But after (or even before) you should have used the air brake and after touch down the brake parachute.

Man, This game needs really high Graphics card to run smooth. I tried all settings on high and I think it runs at 5fps below with 8600gt.

i am running orbiter on a 128 mb ati graphic card. The specs nedded is not that high. I am also running it on another computer with geforce 8600. It runs with 42 frames per seconds. I think you need to check your settings.

yes i know the replay button is there. I landed it from the cockpit view while recording. Then i played it back so i could show the landing from different views. Recording is an in built function in orbiter.

Orbiter does not include a read me file anywhere. So what ever you are commenting on here - it is not Orbiter. You have very likely not played Orbiter.

ORBITER is a game that do not takes up you computer specs. The game is free and can be downloaded legally. And no i dont think it works on Win 95. XP sure works. I think youre mixing up the game. Windows did not create this game. It was made in 2005 by a mathematician. Physics.

Yes, but only inside one solar system. It does not allow travel to other stars, but you can download alternative solar systems to play inside.

Also, our own solar system is large enough as playground - just coast around the Jupiter system, the ideal training site for gravity assists.
