your patterns at 40 yards are horrible with all the loads. Especially for shooting a mod choke. I'd take take that Kicks choke and throw it right the hell into the garbage.

Blind side is not worth the extra money its no better then cheap steel. And same goes for Black cloud they are over priced and dont pattern no better the regular federa. So save your money and just get the cheap stuff but dont buy estate shells they suck.

i have a couple chokes that are probably over 10 years old, do u think that they could handle steel shot or would i be better off just buyin a new choke?

@deathfrets those chokes will be fine, steel doesn't deform like lead does, so it's est to use a Modified or if you want to use a full choke look for chokes that say FULL STEEL. I shot steel shot out of a LEAD FULL choke one time and it bulged my barrel. P.S. don't be afraid o ask questions.

Each gun/Choke will respond differently, or rather that is what I have realized, my 1187 throws a better pattern with Remington Hi-speed Sportsman Rounds than anything else but my A400 Xtreme shoots Blind Sides with a Kicks Modified high flyer than any other. and it took me a long time and a lot of money to find that out.

Blind side is the best to me hevey mettle was good to but black cloud is not good at all I used it and it up agisnt Winchester and I hit every duck I shot at with Winchester black cloud umm no a few feathers that was all Winchester shoot better

Steel shot is crap no matter the brand lol. I liked the 20 yard shots, but I think it would have been a little better if you would have used a full choke for the first round. Not knocking your way or anything man, you did me a favor with the 20 yrd shots. I dont have to go out and buy all thoughs loads and test em now. thanks for the info

I too have read that blackcloud ammo should not be shot with ported chokes, especially kicks high flier due to the wad being jammed into ports. Great comparison though. I agree with earlier posts, shooting from a stand would be extremely helpful.. THANKS!

I prefer you did this testing by shooting from a mount or table on some sand bags to ensure a steady point of aim and solid foundation. That would help eliminate shooter error such as flinching.

did you take a look at any of the spent hypersonic shells? i bought a box of em and they were a little too hot half of em blew the primer partially out on the box i shot.

I bought a case of Hevi Metal 3" 3's last year and was happy with how they performed. Through a Benelli Vinci with HeviShot MOD Choke if you put a good shot on them birds don't stand a chance. Also with the X-Full Hevishot choke tube you can reach out to 40-50 yards fairly consistently if you have the shooting ability/willingness to waste $1+ per shell

I know they make a "black cloud" choke and I was under the impression that it was extended but I may be wrong? Everyone I know that's shot those did so out of a stock choke or patternmaster with no issues. Went out yesterday and I liked the hevi metal a lot.

Thanks for the comparison. I just picked up a couple boxes of Blindside myself. I thought it wasn't good to shoot Blackcloud through a extended choke tube like Kicks or Patternmaster??

@texaz2006 ive heard that too or any ported tube for that matter since the wad opens backwards the ports take chunks out of the plastic
