I am straight and this made me cry a little because some of my family members are gay and did struggle with it as did some of my friends.

For every celebrity that wants to claim "it gets better" there is a hundred thousand regular people where it didn't and never will get better. That's the reality. The only chance of it getting better is if you are one of the people making these "it gets better" videos. Because only rich/famous people are making these videos. And yeah, if you're Ellen Degenerous it gets better cuz you have millions of dollars. But for everyone else, it really doesn't get better. That's the sad truth.

If you go onto The Trevor Project website you will see that they are just regular people-gay, lesbian, straight, bi and transgender, who are trying to make a difference in a young person's life by bringing a message of hope.
And for those celebrities, like Zachary, who did video messages, they can sometimes reach someone who has admired them from seeing them on TV in a way that others can't. So whether these messages are from celebrities or just us regular people, the message remains the same that there is always hope and that people do care. And if that message reaches just one person and brings positive change then it's a good start.
Hmm.. I think he's actually the very first straight man I have seen in my entire life who defend gay people... I think he's pretty much the only one... or one of the few... sad...

this summer i was outed by people i knew from high school. Six people i grew up with jumped me and beat the shit out of me. 6 against one girl. Nobody stopped them and nobody helped me. I've never knew i was capable of so much hatred until that day.
But the thing that kept me going was knowing that I deserved better then this.
Knowing that is what keeps me strong and happy. It's so rare to being seen as human, I feel like ur words mended a small part of my heart. You are a good man.
It's good to grow strong in heart, not to sink down to the level of bullies or those who have been bullied and mistreated at home, who turn against mankind without learning any empathy, of understanding what other's have gone through and to lend a hand and voice. I've heard many situations where teens have been very badly beaten, yet no one bothered to stop it, or helped. I know what you mean.

One of my close LGBTQ friends committed suicide on Sept. 13, and it's been possibly the most difficult thing to deal with.
I know as a fellow member of the LGBTQ community it's difficult and at many times it really sucks, but support has been everything to me and is the reason I'm still here.

I've been feeling real lost. and it does get better. mom told me that so long ago but it's like you can's conceive it until others spread the word and show you. i am about to cry now just thinking about all the young ppl out there feeling confused and alone and even after this video they might not see & therefor not knowing it's ppl who cares this much for there lives.

It's terrible when ppl beat up ppl and bully ppl.
I see kids who are mean every day. They tease kids because of their shoes even though their school has uniforms, they find something to pick at the child about.
I saw a kid tease another child today because the child's father passed!!!
Yes, this is maddening!
It starts in the home. Parents are just biological and are not raising their kids with ethics nor empathy for one another.

THANK YOU for pointing out that these are in fact the names we have come to know, and that there are countless others who have been subjected to this kind of bullying and this same fate, this same feeling of loneliness, like this is all there is and no one is there to help or ever will be. While awareness is being risen and that is a great thing, it bothers me that people keep talking about these recent suicides as if this has never happened before and it HAS! Many times. Its ok to be LGBTIQQKP!

this summer i was outed by people i knew from high school. Six people i grew up with jumped me and beat the shit out of me. 6 against one girl. Nobody stopped them and nobody helped me. I've never knew i was capable of so much hatred until that day.
But the thing that kept me going was knowing that I deserved better then this.
Knowing that is what keeps me strong and happy. It's so rare to being seen as human, I feel like ur words mended a small part of my heart. You are a good man.

It's good to grow strong in heart, not to sink down to the level of bullies or those who have been bullied and mistreated at home, who turn against mankind without learning any empathy, of understanding what other's have gone through and to lend a hand and voice. I've heard many situations where teens have been very badly beaten, yet no one bothered to stop it, or helped. I know what you mean.

Thank you so much Zach, you really don't know how much this meant to me. I started crying watching this video because I could tell you mean it, and it's an emotional subject.
One of my close LGBTQ friends committed suicide on Sept. 13, and it's been possibly the most difficult thing to deal with.
I know as a fellow member of the LGBTQ community it's difficult and at many times it really sucks, but support has been everything to me and is the reason I'm still here.
