the movie was genia and i am a really big big big fan of JAMES CAMERON,i venerate him and i know that he IS the king of the world!!!I simply adore and venerate him..he is the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OK sorry I'll take it all back, went to see the 3D version today, and thought it was brill, as good if not better than the hype. Not everyones cup of tea I guess, but I did like the way the director created similarities to our own planet earth being destroyed by the "War Machine", and ignorance of the worlds leaders to the real needs of people living on this planet. Maybe in 200 years the penny will drop, but may be too late for most of us.
But they always say that, it's an industry standard response they need to make their money back somehow, backhanders for film critics etc. Its more corrupt than westminster. The real proof is when you see it yourself, it will be old hat in 3 months time
I attended a screening last august in IMAX 3D. Without a doubt, the greatest visual effects I've seen in a film. I also love how some here are trying to condescend to James Cameron, arguably the greatest action director of all-time. This film has been his dream project and he always intended to use CGI. Also, this film didn't cost half a billion dollars to make; just a false rumor that the New York Times and now 20th Century Fox is suing them.
I cant help but think that all of these epic hollywood movies always think more is more. The movie does look good but its honestly not that different looking when compared to other action sci-fi movies. all the action shots, explosions etc. look very similar to things Ive seen before. Thats why I hope they focus a ton on the details like the animals, vegetation and the Navi rather than big scope battle camera shots.
Well, entertainment can go a long way. If he used that much money to make a movie, I imagine he's done good "moral" stuff with it too. When I become a movie director myself, there's no telling how much money I'll need for when I make my BIONICLE movie series, so I'll have to start off my career with movies with lesser budgets of course. Then, as it did with Cameron, I'll have a great amount of money to make top-notch movies.
District-9 didn't use as much money as it looks...
Yeah he's a super ego maniac, "I am the King of the world and i am an Artist," His movies look great but sadly they have no soul, not even entertaining. It's just good craft i give him that but has no dialog or story.
Its a shame too. Terminator I do like as a straight action piece and inventive story (well, okay, he ripped that off Harlan Elison too) and Aliens is a classic horror movie.
More research? I've seen the trailers. The story looks like rehashing of similar plots (Guy is told to do something that makes perfect sense, when he goes to do it he realizes the peeps he works for are the bad guy and joins the other side to fight back). And it looks SOOOOO fake! I don't think the live action and the animation in this mesh well together at ALL. There are parts where it looks too cartoony.
its not based on the show. It was written by James Cameron to be a movie from the beginning. a different movie entitled "the last airbender" is based on the show
No no, this idea originated LONG before the Nickelodeon show, sometime after the release of Titanic. M. Night had his movie "The Last Airbender" have a different name in respect for this here James Cameron movie. It's like saying the makers of that "Transmorphers" rip-off of Transformers telling Michael Bay to have a different name. Avatar came before Avatar: The Last Airbender, so don't say the FIRST franchise should change its name.
What this person said. They beat me to the answer. "The Last Airbender" is the movie based on the "Avatar: The Last Airbender" animated show, and THAT movie is being directed by M. Night!

No, but ego driven projects funded by millions of dollars do.

You mean money can be a good thing when it goes to the cause of other people?
Like, say, a corporation mining mineral necessary for the continued existence of humanity in Avatar?
Oh wait...those guys are evil.
So the message here is money is evil...so long as its James Cameron spending or receiving it.

I suggest doing more research before making such a retarded-ly false statement. If you think this looks horrendous
1. what looks good to you? Fucking twilight?
2. You have the taste of a tongueless baboon
