  • Nice! Very nice! WTG FDNY!

  • Why is is FDNY and not NYFD?

  • @saints360row because from a far NYPD and NYFD can be confused ;) hope this helps

  • @TheAshleydyson Actually, it's because the exact title was "Fire Department City of New York" which was chartered in the State of New York in 1798. It was then called the Metropolitan Fire Department until 1870, when the original name "Fire Department City of New York" was reinstated. It was never legally NYFD at any time in our history, and had nothing to do with being mistaken for NYPD. Hope that explains it.

  • @devildoc225 Never knew that, just always been told that cock and bull ;) haha

  • why do the trucks pull out in front of the house and stop while everyone comes out and climbs in the truck?

  • @04medic Because if you look at most NYC firehouses they have sidewalks running in front of them that the trucks must cross to get into the street. the firefighters walk out to make sure that no one walks in front of one those trucks. Have a look at some other videos and you'll see that even with lights and sirens plenty of people still try to cut in front of the trucks as they are prepping to leave.

  • @iceolated75 thank you

  • Is Benetados still with ladder 1?

  • benetatos is in the decon unit when they interviewed him on the 9/11 ten years later and he is married and has a daughter i had it on my dvr it might got deleted

  • let's run some red lights - ghostbusters

  • Yes this was featured in the Naudet doc.

  • looks like the fire station was used in gostbusters

  • Do you know what Battalion 1 needs?

    More lights!! :)

  • @MuffinMan051495 they go outside to help and make sure traffic is stopped right first. Then they get on.

  • is it fdny protocal to get in the truck after it pulls out of the station?

  • @MuffinMan051495 They get in after is leaves the station so they hold back vehicles and pedestrians as the truck pulls out, and then they jump in.

  • Does Tony the probi firefighter from the film still work there?

  • @DavidNBRFC10 No. Last I knew, he was assigned to HazMat 1.

  • holy crap that's a tight turn.

  • yeah one of first fire battalion on the scene during 911

  • i don't see how they drive those long ass fire trucks in the city. i coundn't do it.......i would hit every light pole LOL

  • what's the garage on the far right for or is that for something else?

  • @SHOWusThedave Borough Command Vehicles and the Firefighters' private cars

  • @Crazyfogfighter oh, thanks

  • if someone who is 13 and wants to be a firefighter when the get older, does anyone know of any excersises for him to help him be prepared for when he gets old enough to start training?

  • @03sledhead im 14 and im a junior i say just go to all the calls and trainings as posible

  • @03sledhead hey im 14 and im from Ohio, both my parents are fire fighters and im an Explorer on their FD, we do trainings, climb the aerials, and alot of cool stuff, so look around and see if any FD have an Explorers progam near you...its a really cool expierience, reply back if you want any more info.!!

  • @rallybiker1234 okay thanks. i have a cousin on our volunteer fire dept. and he said he would talk to the chief and see if i could go to some of the controled burns and meetings and some other stuff. thanks again.

  • I got some nice photos of Ladder 1 last week when I was in NYC. They were parked on Walker St for some reason, Engine 7 was ou ton a run someplace else.

  • how tall is that tower ladder?

  • I was just there today. I was lucky enough to get there right as Engine 7 got a call.

  • Holy Cow that Looks Cramped

  • I hate AFA, (Automatic Fire Alarms). i think maybe they should only send out the Battalion Chief so he can determine if they need a first alarm response or not, instead of all the apparatus getting tripped for BS, and tied up for nothing.

  • what happened???' its not was a really currency......

  • these guys were on the 9/11 doc by the Naudet brothers

  • Hero's right there,

man,i really wanne be a firefighter,

but you have to go through the army and have the best grades and everything,:(

  • @DKDFG

you don't have to join the army. FDNY hardly hires anymore anyways.

  • Go through the army? Best grades? what the hell are you talking about? Haha. To be a firefighter you have to get an application fill it out and go to the fire academy. idk what kinda firefighter your thinking of but you dont need anything with the army nor "Best" grades.

  • you don't have to go through the army, bud. Do you want to be a career or volunteer fireman?

  • What? umm no

  • Well,You have to in Norway,

    it sucks,.

  • you dont necessarily have to go through the army. just graduate high school, get 30 college credits. its not alot to ask for. pass the written and physical and do what everyone else does...wait

  • god bless them

  • A Very beautiful Classic Early 20th Century Firehouse. Just the way they should still be!!

  • I would love to be on FDNY

  • nice roomy station

  • damn Battalion Cheif takes his sweet time leaving the station eh?

  • Radio, how is that report going? HAHA!!!

  • The suburban reminds me of Ghostbusters, because of all the lights.

  • That's not a Suburban- its an Excursion, which is much bigger.

  • I met some Firefighters from this house when i came over in feb 2001, they told me about a great bar called mustang sally's i think it was called...met for a beer later, nice blokes, came away with a tee shirt and a hangover..

  • @confranman you said blokes im guessin your from outa country

  • @MultiMonster69 Yes sir im from England

  • @confranman doesnt england have the sirens that are like eeeeeaaaaa. im not sure bout the exact siren but dont those get annoyin

  • @MultiMonster69 @MultiMonster69 LMAO, yes we do have ones that go Neee Naaa, but we have yelp and wail sirens too,Im in Buckinghamshire now and they prefer the traditional neeenaa but each watch use whichever siren they like ( although we are supposed to change from wail to yelp when entering a built up area...

  • @MultiMonster69... but we dont have anything as loud and as cool as the states do, i sat in rescue 2 in FDNY and they put the sirens on, i could feel it through my whole body, very cool, no excuse for not hearing that coming!

  • @confranman well your forgettin about one siren that probaly hasnt been used in 50 years that everyone knows of... the air raid sirens from WWII. those things sound all eery an stuff. those things are probably even louder

  • @confranman mustang sally's is in danville, pa and its a strip club

  • @pabullrider08 the bar we went to was near maddison sq garden

  • @pabullrider08 definately no strippers, i would definately remembe that

  • @confranman In my opinion nothing compares to New Yorks Firefighters

  • Heros man!! good post!!

  • its funny the last time I was in NYC they were actually on a call at this building too

  • this is my favorite station!!!

i know this station from the 9/11 documentary from the naudet brother's!!

  • I was thinking the same thing... Good house

  • i know it from the same documentary too

    this documentary was realy good

do you know if they have made more like that one?

  • yea, i have that on dvd, i visited the house too

  • do u no if thats on dvd i lost that movie well documentary

  • @X0n3 was this really the station they were from, I don't remember the location mentioned?

  • @X0n3 Heck, I guess I'll just call this firehouse the "9|11 House" from now on, even though it's Engine 7 and Ladder 1, not Engine 9 and Ladder 11 (which aren't even stationed together).

  • @X0n3

This is THE station from the movie?

  • @Neitschel yes

  • @X0n3 /E7 L 1 uptown manhattan

  • this happened a few times when i was taking the m22 to west side my skool is is.89 across from stuy.

  • good to see they got new apparatuses...and beautiful ones at that. their old ones were reduced to piles of steel. very spooky to see them get extracted from the rubble

  • j-walker!

  • how many trucks are there in a typical fire station like this?

  • usually 2 apparatuses and maybe a battalion car. this house is pretty big. some stations have only one apparatus depending on where they are located. so in other words a single apparatus station may have a rescue, a ladder, or an engine and their station name will reflect what they have. if you see something like 7 Engine 7 on top of the station door then that means Engine Co. 7 is located there. hope i helped a little!

  • and there is one station also bigger i think it is ladder 18 engine 15 and balttalion 4 my dad works with the ladder 18 mostly

  • im gonna take a guess and say that what u said about ur dad is a lie

  • why would i lie about my dad? btw how old are u?

  • B/c of the fact that u said that there is a bigger station than ladder 1 engine 7 but you said u arent sure and it just so happens that ur dad is stationed there. u can find out how old i am by clicking on my name.

  • this is that station the Naudet brothers were shooting that becoming a man documentary in 2001 which ended up being a 2001 documentary

the probie at the time was on the job like 9 hours

    insane

  • Is it?? that is amazing that those two caught so much on film and lived...it was jaw dropping to watch the documentary and then to see the aftermath in real life...FDNY have my upmost respect

  • that probie was on for a while man, he was dubbed "a white cloud" cus they never got calls on his shift...911 was his first major call..he had a car fire before, but 911 was his first structure job....friggin' crazy they had a camera crew following his first year

  • i remember that doc, great work done by those brothers.

  • i watched that. made me want to be a FF even more.

  • not 9 hours the probie was assigned to that house during the summer

  • huh.. that's wierd because where I live you only need paramedic school and you have to have a high school diploma to be a full time city ff.

  • there is no such thing as "paramedic school" you can go to a college to train to be a paramedic or an emt/ems but there is no paramedic school....

  • There is a school in ohio. i THINK that specifically trains EMTS/PARAMEDICS....

  • well i've never heard of it...and you know it might be a college whos forte is EMT

  • Buckeye Hills teaches high school student EMT-B and FF 240

  • I plan on becoming a firefighter after high school.. I graduate this spring.. what are the requirements to be a ff for the fdny??

  • If it's anything like other stations, you have to be 18 to be a volunteer and 21 to enter an involved structure.

  • Comment removed

  • does any1 no y the chief isnt parked in the third door instead of with the engine... and does any1 no wut is in the third door

  • That third bay is used for storage, sometimes the members will park their cars in there if there is not parking left on the street.

  • also the boro commander's office is located there, and he has his own car and has like a van too,

  • Oh man, I was there just a couple of weeks later, really nice guys, and the funny thing is, engine 7 was called again on the same building. False alarm though.

I'm french and I travelled to NYC to see this particular Firehouse, the Lucky 7.

It sucks that I can't apply to the FDNY cuz I'm french...

    cool memories though....

  • THE STATION LOOKS LIKKE A CASTLE

  • is there any volunteer fire departments in NY?

  • Yes there are still a few active vol departments that operate within NYC. West Hamilton Beach, Broad Channel, Roxbery, in Queens come to mind along with 2 or 3 in Staten Island. Plus several more

  • also car 6 the manhattan boro camander runs out of there...

  • OMG FULL HOUSE!!! 2 TRUCKS AND A BATTILION!!!! man this is nothing.. ive seen ones with 6 trucks and 2 vans...

  • in fdny?

  • yeah

  • Not in the FDNY, no one houses 6 trucks in 1 house. And this is full house considering they all went.

  • nice

  • hey wasent that the place that had an interveiw about the WTC

  • Yep thats them, the last suv is where they ride to the trade center

  • y dont they use full sirens some just put it and take it off the only truck that i know has a q is ny is the new rescue one

  • Full sirens? You mean Q

  • yea q or leave the siren on

  • Yay Tower 1 my fav FDNY truck.

  • BC must of been on the crapper!

  • Hey, I've been caught with my pants down as well!. Not very fun time.

  • Would not want to have to back it back in since it is so close pulling the truck out

  • Good Man.

  • I thought they were not aloud to roll both at once or something

  • Best in the city baby

  • An excellent response,real neat.

  • the building they responded to is in fact the FBI headquarters for NYC
