I watched max's drum off video and his playing is very sloppy, and hes pretty much doing the same stuff over and over. this kid had much more variety in his grooves. playing fast para diddles over and over isn't going to win max a drum contest.
@RosabellaMusic Max is a sloppy player in a good way just like Mitch Mitchel was.
I think max's solo was much more fun to watch when this guy just stops over and over so he can re-group and start again. It's like he was just doing 10 seperate solo's.

That is what's wrong with this modern rock school breed of musicians. This guy obviously spends his time watching drum videos and practicing his drum fills. He does'nt groove at all' i'm not saying he could'nt if he worked at it but he should join a band with older seasoned musicians and learn his craft. Or he could carry on as he is and become just another boring drummer playing chops that only other drummers appreciate. Less marco minneman and more levon helm is the answer.
its all about the pure tightness this guy rolls out. he's dead acurate with each piece. the flow isnt perfect through the different beats, but when he plays each section its dead dead tight. see 2:10 through 2:24, superb accuracy, also he doesnt create any wooden clicks if you know what i mean! superb drumming
yeah i can see why he won, no offense but he is better in skill. but you put wayyy more emotion into your set! but yeah, this kid has some pretty sick skills.
the guys got technique... must of learned from some really good drummers... i can hear some John Bonham, Mitch Mithell, Neil Peart, And some Keith moon influence in there... the guy probably knows his stuff
because a double bass drum with 1 pedal will sound sloppy if you haven't practiced a lot and even then it's still gonna come out sloppy.the only drummer who can mimic a double bass with 1 pedal is john bonham
he deserved to win. im not gonna kiss anyones ass, but im glad he won.
