G1 Red Cross anime Ratchet

What type of paint did you use. I am going to paint my encore seeker jets' heads because their eye stickers are infuriating.

I used standard Revell modeling paint. Those thumb-size cans.

How did you get an Encore Ratchet with the redcross? Do they do 2 versions? I have the Encore but he doesn't have the red cross. Good vid.

I painted the red crosses myself. The vintage Ratched debuted with those red crosses which were also seen in the cartoon. Years later, the Red Cross organization made it illegal by law to use the symbol on toys and video games.

Ok....I just found some on eBay, but it says they're for the encore edition. My Ratchet and Ironhide are G1 originals. Will they still fit them?

Wow!!! I NEVER thought to display the arms that way! That, coupled with the heads, makes them look SOOOO much better! Did you think of that yourself, or had you seen it done that way? That actually gives Ratchet his shoulder crosses! Fabulous work. And I can't find those damn heads anywhere. Even on eBay.

I thought about turning the arms upside down when I saw Ratchet in a catalogue in the 80's but I didn't have the figure back then. I was considering to also create a rear window using plexi and make hand molds but I guess I'll keep him this way because I don't have a spare Ratchet.

Lol i'm a child of the 80's but this ratchet is horrible..i prefer the animated version..5 stars on the video though. its a great documentary on a very classic toy.

I used to dislike this when I was a kid but now I like it. Especially in ambulance mode.

You can buy the heads from eBay. Plastic ones. The first heads that were available were made by an enthusiast and therefore not in enough quantities. Because of the lack of production capacity the prices were $100 or more. The heads that I bought were made later on by a toy company. They were mass-produced, which is why they were "only" $15 for the set.

Thanks. Most people think my videos are reviews, but they're actually meant to be video catalogs or video galleries. Remember the 80's TF paper catalogs that came with the boxed figures? These videos are supposed to be video alternatives of those catalogs.

my 80s ratchet does'nt have the red cross but it looks much better with them and with the arms upside down nice

There are '84 Ratchets with the crosses but they're rare. I used the box art to paint the crosses with the correct measurements at the correct positions. You can see a large image of half of the cross on the box itself (see 0:30) which is helpful to see where exactly it should be painted.

great review buddy do all the encore ratchets have the red cross or is that the new release with the heads iv been meaning to get this i have ironhide and i do have the original ratchet with out the gunthat goes on the front but theres so much to buy at the moment iv got a new unicron on its way to me cant wait

Thanks man. I wrote some info in the video description which explains all. This is the Encore reissue of Ratchet. I bought the heads separately, hence the footage of the BestToys box at the end of the video. I painted the crosses.
