"a billionaire oil man pushing a 15 million dollar campaign that should be about wind but really it's about water and good old fashion environmentally destructive profit." ZapRoot
Forward fast past Russert to 36:00 The discussion with T. Boone Pickens is much more interesting. He says peak oil is here and price of oil is going to continue to go up.
You are so right. This is a huge blow for American democracy frankly. Russert had a purifying effect on American politics because any politician who had big ambition knew that they would have go through the crucible that was MTP. He was in the back of all their minds whenever a camera or mic was near and they had to watch their rhetoric or know that they would have to explain themselves on MTP. He forced the powerful to behave. He was an irreplaceable gatekeeper of American politics.
A few hours ago I broke out my copy of America: The Book by Stewart and the Daily Show crew. I remembered a graph of how they ranked all the major talk show personalities. Russert was at the top of the list. The end of his summary said: "Be careful. It's Sunday monring and he fact checks." High praise indeed. The world is a lesser place today.
Tim Russert was such a beautiful person and a real professional. He was never afraid to ask the tough questions but always treated people with respect. RIP Tim, you will missed.
Tim Russert possessed an unabashed enthusiasm for objective political analysis, and some of the highest standards of journalistic integrity I have ever seen. May all those who seek a career in journalism strive to meet the level of excellence he set... R.I.P.
Tim Russert was an amazing man. He was a journalist with the highest level of professional and personal integrity. Most of all, he did everything with a smile and showed how much he cared about the simplest things in life...the things that matter most...love and family. Imagine the many letters that will be written on those first few pages of Tim's book for Father's Day. Tim, on this upcoming Father's Day, we salute you and thank you for all you've given the world.
Maybe I'm wrong, but this gushing sentimentality over "dad" strikes me as a lot of B.S. I have to wonder, did Russert really have such a moral saint as a father? I've met a lot of dads and never met one who wasn't a bit of a dense, self-centered lout. And speaking as a woman, this "daddy's girl" scenario is really much more revolting than cute.
Well, some people do love their dad's and appreciate their memories. No one said they were flawless. These are just people who love their dads. I kind of feel sorry for you.
Well, it's a matter of perspective, lots of dads are worthy of love and respect. Some of them are the silent soldiers in the family. There is nothing wrong in celebrating fatherhood.

"If you tell the truth, you only have to tell one story." Beautiful line by Tim Russert; no doubt, that was his philosophy!

He should have credited Samuel Clemens AKA Mark Twain, the person who created that quote.

Hillary killed Tim Russert. Why did she remind us of RFK in relation to Obama? And Ted Kennedy and his sudden brain cancer? And now Tim Russert.
steenbeangreen 3 years ago
Yeah and I bet she had Bo Diddley killed too! Please take your pills again. By the way I hate Hillary but I hardly think she had those people killed.

Did Bo Didley stand in Hillary's way?

Both these interviews are appropriate in multiple ways for this very day: Russert's death, Father's Day, oil prices, etc. Excellent video.

My dad died when I was 5 years old. I've no idea if he was good or bad. I do know I never had a chance to tell him how I felt.
