The more I learn about this country the more disgusted I am. Yet I wouldn't want to blow it up that'd be feeding into the problem. A war would just make way for the victorious to be assholes in their own right.
You cite Iraq, the public wasnt gauged properly what so ever. Weapons of mass destruction or humanitarian intervention are total simplifications of a much broader and complex reason for invading, economic and geo/political factors were at work. Haiti example, you may some arguement there, and yes i cant say it with conviction, but i for one do not believe the general public can comprehend the anarchic international order
interesting man, who makes valid points. Not sure 'lazy and corrupt' leaders are the best. The reality is the mass public isnt intelligent enough, or capable of digesting world events, nor could a country respond swiftly to a complex humanitarian/political emergency if it had to consult its public. So manipulation and simplification are inescapable
How can you say, with any conviction, the public is unable to understand such events when they've never been given a chance. Invasions such as in Iraq and Us's involvment in Haiti were not spontaneous events. They happened after long planning within the administration, if their intentions were reported truthfully by the media to the public, elected officials would have plenty of time to gauge public opinion.
That's why TV has become such rubbish!! There is no real information, only the mainstream opinion gets through..everybody repeats the same slogans & concepts, if you don't, the sponsors won't support your programme. Thus , TV & newspapers are not free at all but rather they are run by them; ads interrupt the speaker, changing completely the subject with such an invasive way, telling you that it's what THEY are selling that's really important!!! What we need is a public Tv without publicity.
this is awesome. chomsky's comments about concision remind me of something sam harris said on the news a while ago about needing evidence for fantastic (or in this case, just unexpected) claims
Noam Chomsky for President.

This is my favorite of all of Chomsky's works. I wonder what percentage of the American public could handle all 8 of these clips?

The mainstream shows that refrain from showing this info to the public --they're all participating indirectly to world murders and genocides.
Oprah, Conan, Jay Leno, David Letterman, Craig Ferguson, The View, Martha !
All of them.
Blockbuster movies and TV shows, they're just ways to keep us viewers in disorientation.

The last 20 seconds are priceless. LOL! Chomsky gets it out on the airwaves anyway....
LOVE it:)

Discrediting Chomsky by saying that he's not "t.v." material b/c it takes him too long to warm up is laughable, given he's an expert in linguistics.
Pathetic, pathetic excuse.
