If there ever was a genius author with profound universal meaning, I propose a vote for an Edgar Allan Poe statue in the National Statuary Hall, with a poem and signature from one of his novels on the bottom slabstone monument.
I'd just like to thank you for uploading this video. It's been very helpful in a school research assignment i'm completing at the moment about the death of Edgar Allan Poe. I was just wondering if anyone knew who made the documentary?
He's my idol as a writer. Sad and depressing it may be but it really speaks to me and sets me off to a different place where I dont have to think about anything but what he was thinking and what he said.
@daviesman90 Which anti-Masonic works? As I recall whenever Poe used Masonry in his stories (The Cask of Amontillado for instance) it was mainly as a plot device or just in mention.
thank you very much fr posting this, though I have something to say about Poe's death:
during election day, some thuggers invited him for some baltimore lemonade for every campaign so he could elect somebody who was running for office. After that was done, he was so drunk that he fainted just like that because of his alcohol allergy.
@Tman2295 all of them die tragically but most of them commit suicide under the weight of there insane genius. poe was an incredible artist and writer, but there is nothing gothic about him. he was just a beautiful man with a soul full of tragedy
@MyRandomVlog Can't be emo for couple of reasons. Emo (for some reason) has this suicidal thoughts and mostly write down poems about depressive topics, not horror. Poe suffered a lot and all his feelings he pasted them in horror poems, stories (like many goths do also). He didn't go saying "oh, hate my life. I'm nothing" or things like that. People often confuse emo with goth (which I truly hate) because they don't know the meaning of either one. Emo comes from emotional.
it was the fact that he wasn't readily accepted by his peers that led Poe to begin his serious writting career. Much like Maynard Keenan the lead singer of tool and a perfect cirlce
He wasn't accepted in his own society ... He was shunned by his gaurdians, many of his peers, and he was so maltreated at West Point by upperclassmen and even his fellow classmates who thought he was strange that he would routinely drink heavily at a local tavern ... He spent his time writting instead of studying ... it was in after one of these drunken nights that Poe went to a morning formation without clothes on which along with his poor grades ensured he was dismissed from the Academy
@KatieM101388 fuck you. emo is a word described to teens who find inspiration not in literature or proper music, but to teenagers who listen to break up songs by fall out boys and justin beaver. gothic would be more appropriate.
Not sure what song you're referring to since the video cuts out there, but it's likely just some background music that A&E had composed specifically for this biography.
Poe's last words " Lord help my poor soul " and with that the greatest mind of macabe had come to an end. It started in Boston Mass on Carver st. and ended in Baltimore Md.
I nto sure, posibly he was on a trip´and had sufered enough then, He left great leagacy anyhow, is this part of an "unsolved misteries" chapter? wheres the rest pls ?
maybe he was poisioned

@dajokaman759 He's definitely better than Shakespeare, because Shakespeare sucks.

@vinylrecordcollector I don´t think so, cause Shakespeare war great too!. They were only just different points of view things!
