  • In some cases, the hi hat doesn't really need to be in in sync with the timing of the beat, it can be used as a fill in and kind of a background noise, to create an auditory hallucination, sort of like in the song 'when the levee breaks', the hi hat sounds as though it is being hit more than it actually is. Good video, thanks!

  • obviously your not gonna get it perfect since bonham was one of the best of all time BUUUUUT i liked the solo, not bad but if you make another video work on your timing and try beating the shit out of your set and maybe it might sound better

  • @masteroflego1234 yes he does. listen to the original recording, on led zeppelin 2

  • Only thing i have to say is when bonham clicked his hi hat (during the solo) he kept it constant quarter notes.

  • I'm digging the Velcro shoes!

  • Love the drum solo

  • What kind of drum set?

  • nice try guys, besides the cymbles on the high hat, which fell completely off beat at the end of the drum solo, it was off big time...james you are what makes this virtual cover role...go back to your acustic and vocals...everything I have heard from you on that front is impecible...

  • Very, very cool! Everything sounded so professional.

  • It's definitely drop D, pretty decent cover.

  • BONHAM RULES

  • dang this drummer is awesome someone text me back and tell me what you think k!!!!!!!!!

  • yall used sublime at the end...ha koo

  • I Thought This Was The Same Guy Playing All Instruments. Hahaha

  • you guys are just KICK-ASS! AWESOME VID!

  • Yes the song is in Drop D for guitar and bass

  • Yeah, the top E is in D. Page actually used that quite a bit. For example, in the song "Ten Years Gone."

  • this is a kick ass song from led zeppelin but moby dick was a hell of alot better on how the west won the mothership

  • What heads are those?

  • very nice.

  • cowbell....

  • he played with his hands because he had no feeling in his hands from all the bricklaying he did in the past.. his hands were caliced

  • This guy holds his sticks weird like , almost sideways on his hands.

  • didnt the drummer from zeppelin use is hands at one point, and is this song in drop D for bass because i cant seeem to get that low on my bass.

  • @thesavatts

Yeah, John Bonham used his hands. hmmm, don't know about the drop D tuning. I've never played this song. Anyone else know the answer to that one?

  • @jamesnorthernva its in drop d yar

  • @jamesnorthernva it's in drop d.

  • @thesavatts

    It is in drop D

  • @thesavatts Yeah man its in Drop D. I just did this song for my trial exams at school. And the guitarist had to tune down (:

  • @thesavatts yes, it is in drop d

  • @thesavatts onguitar it is so im guessig it is for badd

  • @thesavatts Yes the guitar and bass are Drop D :)

  • @thesavatts yeah its drop d

  • @thesavatts Yeah I'm pretty sure its in drop D

  • @thesavatts yes it is in drop D

  • @thesavatts Nah man, bass is in standard while the guitar is in drop D

  • those drumheads look like animal skin

  • never impressed with the drums on this cover sorry think its actually weak. Love virtual zeplin though not a fan of their drummer

  • i wish you guys did another angle so it was a bit easier to see what the drummer was playing. i wanna learn this solo

  • john used the ride not the cowbell for the earlier versions... but the cowbell was better for it in this

  • is one of them guitars a rik?, good shit man

  • this is the drummers song a huge solo in the dvd concert

  • sweet!!!

  • hey james what kind of heads is the drummer using they look like ones iv'e used b4 but i cant remember

  • @1123pinkfloyd,

I think he lists that info on his channel.

  • @jamesnorthernva they are called fiberskyn 3's from remo

  • @infectedrummer36 Thanks

  • Yeah!!! This cover is the best!!! The Drum solo is great. Congratulations!!!

  • AWESOME!!

  • @converter877 looks like a Charvel Surfcaster

  • he use a cow bell for the drum

  • nice cover...what the skin on the drum and what type of mic do uou use!!! great sound and great overall!!!!

  • What ride does the drummer use? Awesome job, by the way.

  • @grajdrums not sure, his link is in the video info.

  • The parts with all three instruments playing sounds dead on, however, the drum solo is different. It's not bad; it's just not what Zeppelin's drummer played - understandably, though. It is technically challenging.

  • wow this actually sounded good

  • the worst mobydick drum cover i ever seen

  • @PLACEBOgarbage You suck! It was great! Or at least, I thought it was great!

  • What are using the drumer? and what cuirs? I like it so muuch. Great solo

  • one word: BADASS

  • Nice! But the drum intro to open up the song, eh... could've been better

  • nathanhyatt is a dip shit....

  • ur not very good..but u can play zepp sooo yeah..

  • John Bonham would have been proud!

  • Holy shit, you guys are good.

  • Fuck yeah

  • good that was awsome love it !!!

  • This is just fantastic!!

Great playing. Man... The drumming is just spot on.

  • good job,it takes forever to learn the percussion for this, ive been trying for almost a year now

  • Your Snare Drum Head looks Like the Moon somewhat. =P

  • lol yea it does!

  • nice sticks bra pro-mark is the shit!! i do the same thing with the bass pedal sometimes helps stay time so i feel ya

  • Drum solo.... haha holy moly nice

  • love the bass

  • spot on

  • It doesn't matter if he didn't do it the same as Bonham. When musicians do covers, they can do it in their own way. Good job by the way

  • Play those drums more and you won't be such a fat fuck and have to hide out of the shot! And get rid of those 1980's Reebok's chick used to wear during aerobics bitch! On a brighter note good job on them skins!

  • how u dress and how much you weigh does not affect how u play the drums;)

  • hes just mad he can't play as well as you :P

  • loved it you guys really are onr of the few who did this song justice nice nice

  • This was oustanding!

  • what kind of cymbals are those?

  • Just saying to the people who don't think it is good because it isn't exactly like John Bonham's recording, you guys are not smart. John Bonham is my favorite drummer, but he did not play this solo the same every time. Just the same as guitarists usually don't play their solos exactly like the recordings.

  • Good, but john bonham kept his hi-hat going thw whole time, and kept it quiet during most of the the guitar breaks. And th cowbell is supposed to be the bell on the ride. still, very good.

  • Listen to the song, there is plenty of time in the song where he doesn't have the hi-hat going at all. And he is definatly using the cowbell, and not the ride in the intro and ending.

  • @OzzyOsbourneRox Nope, its a cowbell.

  • You are awesome, and I love how you use the snare mostly, great inspiration. You dont need a big-ass set!

  • very good

  • I am trying to do a cover of this song does anyone think I would absolutely need that tamberine type thing on top of the high hat?

  • oh yes its nessary for that solo

  • nice old school set dude

  • Big fucking deal, he didnt use his hands, I bet you use your hands alot pwebbles, on yourself!! Great Job

  • doesnt matter if the solo is wrong just listen to it

  • dude, ths kewl

  • fucking awsomeee!!!!

  • WOW this is just sick!

  • not bonzoishy. but good.

  • in the first half of the solo, is the drummer hitting the bass drum or just kind of tapping his foot to keep the beat?

  • hitting the bass

  • i don't think he's hitting the bass. the only time he hits them is when the right hand hits a tom or throws it in randomly. i highly doubt he's thumping the bass with the high hat.

  • no, he's just keeping basic time with it, because the tempo of the high hat changes.

  • good job, but i hate the way hes hands look when there hitting the drums, dosent look like hes hitting them D: lol but yeah i no its real :)

  • not vitual cause solos wrong batch

  • Why not the drummer played with naked hands, at the very first phrase of the solo, like the original recording?

  • Hi vjjunk,

He wanted to do his own thing for the solo.

  • the white one - a stratocaster

the red one - a rickenbacker (for me is the best one.)

  • Its a Charvel Surfaster

  • I'm curious to know..

Did Munkybarz delete his YouTube account?

  • That was alright. only problem is that john bonham was not using his sticks for the solo. he used his hands.

  • Maybe no Moby Dick to A "T" but, I give tons of credit for even attempting it.

Most people would be to embarrassed to try.

  • im terribly sry to say this but ur drummer is not playin it right at all...and i know(take from me as an exprienced drummer) its very had to match bonhams playing style but i think it could of been alot better than that...

  • man that was spot on! i love watching you guys, great work!

  • Absolutely fantastic my friend, top class 5*s :-)

    gerdenshed...

  • Hats off to James(Harper)NorthernVA!!!!!

  • Nice Rock On! I think if Led Zeppelin ever re-unites they should replace You for Robert Plant. Even tho he is the greatest but hes too old. lol me and tstorm81993 were talking bout that he is one of my friends we go to school together. ANy ways man ROCK ON!

  • That sounds great!

  • Excellent job guys!!! James, I miss your voice buddy!!! Can't wait to hear you soon. You guys ROCK!!!

  • EAGERLY awaiting your next... I feel like Chris Farley interviewing Paul McCartney...

  • Hahahahaha

    "Remember when...

    That was AWESOME!"

    Too funny.

    Talk soon MCERICMC

  • Excellent rendition! I miss your vocals though James! What's next?!

  • Thank you MCERICMC,

We will be posting "Black Dog" this month.

  • Nicely done. I especially liked your work, James. :b

But seriously, it was good. Not quite up to Bonzo's level, but then I don't suppose that's an attainable goal.

  • Hey nettles89,

    hahahaha -takes bow-

Regarding MG4150's solo... I feel it was very brave of him to make it his own. He could have played Bonham's solo note for note, but chose not to even though he knew whatever he played would be compared to Bonham's solo. It took a lot of guts to do his own thing here and I could not have greater admiration than I have for him.

    ~ James

  • Thank you James!

Looking at the comments on other channels it's like I was getting tarred and feathered for not playing Bonhams studio version note for note.

Thanks for your understanding, I wanted it to be my own solo.

    Cheers!, Frank

  • Hey Frank! Good to see you my friend!

  • I too noticed the not so good reviews, small minded people who dont appreciate good music for what it is....what a great talent you have, BRAVO!

    Charlotte

  • You guy should definetely do "Ramble On", or perhaps even "Stairway To Heaven."

  • Wow, Great job....You should do Babe I'm gonna leave you next time!

  • Check out Beau Ferchaurd.

  • Another great video, Awesome cover!

  • Yep,I knew it...I thought it would be another excellent cover and I was right!
