@brazilchic101 If you're a beginner and doing pointe at home, it's dangerous because you could fall, go over wrong, break something...standard risks. You always want to make sure you are under the supervision of your teacher so you know you are working through your shoes correctly. It's just really hard to abide by that, especially with new pointes :-) It's so fun showing them off ^.^
be careful not to hop on to pointe... but you are doing great considering how little time you've had them. i see this video is a little old, so post a recent one so i can see your improvement!
be careful not to hop on to pointe... but you are doing great considering how little time you've had them. i see this video is a little old, so post a recent one so i can see your improvement!
@triplethreat913 Yeah, it is really old. But I had to quit dance because of personal reasons, so even if i posted a new video... i would probably be worse! haha sorrry :)
No, but you should have your teacher come along with you to know what suits your foot and body shape the best. That's what my teacher did. Hope I helped! :)
i think u need to break in your shoes abit more also when rising into pointe DO NOT jump roll through from demi to pointe otherwise u can really hurt yourself otherwise well done :)
Your doing fine for two months. But if you said they aren't broken into the right places, that can also be a safety issue, and it is bad for your feet. But if they don't cause any problems, I think they will be fine.
Please check out my vids. Be my friend, and sub me... or anyone reading this, even just checking out my channel would be great!!!
I live in New Jersey, and I want to go on point. I'm 5 foot 7inches. But, i weigh a little more than I should. How much should I weigh to be on point!? Can you give me any advice or tips for loosing weight???
Not bad. The shoes are fitting you quite well, and are breaking in a good place for your feet.
Tuck the strings into the shoes in front please for a more advanced/pro look. Strings hanging out are no-no's.
As to going on one foot, you need more strength before attempting any promenades etc. work on releves, 2 feet, then move from 2feet to one foot back to 2 feet.
For me at my studio, I have been doing ballet since i was 3, and i had to take a really intense technical ballet class for a year before i could.... hope that answers ur question!
thit looks like you are sinking a bit... if you pull out of your shoes... they will last longer, your feet will be stronger, and your feet will look prettier.
word of advice to a beginner - don't sink in your shoes and rely on the shank to keep you up - use that advice, and you'll do great. ( this will also help with the problem that they aren't broken in the right places. you are already very good, and you'll have amazing feet if you work them the right way :) hope this helps!!!
wow! you are great for just a few months! I see what you mean when you say they broke in some wrong places! The shanks broke right under your heels! The only thing I have to say is don't jump into susu!! :)
your not the only one on pointe that reallly hates it loll. im with you. but ur not bad. ur over your shoes. although they are really squeeky. dont just step onto ur shoes to go up though. work on rolling over releve into being on full pointe. and turn out more. ur good though.
when you burree, keep your feet turned out - you started in fifth and then moved into some funky weird position like a crossed sixth or a turned in fifth
i would mainly suggest working on your turn out by squeezing you inner thighs, butt and abs.
those shoes are actually very nice on your feet - you probably hate them because you dont feel like you can do everything you want to on them, but that comes with strength, not shoes (i learned that after buying countless pairs when i first started, only to realize that it wasnt the shoes that i didn't like, it was the fact that i was just not strong enough yet)
dont use ur butt when turning out...this will make bulky big muscles............use ur lower abs......and ur the muscles around ur hips......but not ur butt....it rly bad
The gluteus maximus, or the posterior hip muscles (commonly known as butt muscles) are on the backside of the hips. Therefore, engaging these muscles rotates the hips to increase turn out and promote better alignment.
how would abdomen muscles affect hip rotation? they would certainly help balance and strength.
also, using the rectus femoris (top thigh muscles) instead of the sartorius (inner thigh muscles) create "bulky" muscles.
i will be happy to post a diagram if you need a visual aid.
Are They Your First Pointes, I Looked At My First Shoes The Other Day And They ere Just Soft Everywhere, i Remember Overly Breaking Them In... But You'll Get Used To How They SHould Be Over Time
these shoes look great on your feet! your arch is broken in very well but i would work on breaking in your demi. that could use some work. but really a great job for only a few months. =)
well i guess thats ur opionon cause i love it and i am in shows and i do have class about 4 times a week... nobodys forcing you to do pointe, if u relle feel that way than quit
ok so it wasn't that bad, but ya those pointe shoes are horrible...you have pretty good feet, you just need to try different pointe shoes and see what works best. ive been en pointe for ten years and i just found the perfect pair for me a couple months ago lol.
be careful on the tile!! Your feet look very pretty in the shoes, but I know a person who was dancing en pointe in their kitchen, slipped and popped their knee cap
You really are not as bad as you give yourself credit for. If your shoes are not broken in where they should be, consult your instructor for some tips.
Oooh. i had shoes that broke in similar places and that sucked! kinda was hard on my feet cuz the arch wasnt where mine were. =/ so i switched to grishko so the arch is already there =P.
first shoes are rarely the only shoe you'll ever try on what i like to call "The Great Search". you'll likely try a dozen brands/styles or more before you find the perfect shoe. keep experimenting. and no one should go and tell you what shoes to get just from watching a video. what works for them won't necessarily work for you. russian pointe and grishkos are good at finding a good fit for many different foot types. you have nice feet, it shoudn't be a problem.
Good, if you have a theraband you can make your ankles stronger. Sports section of walmart has tri-level bands. I use those. Easy before class, medium at the barre warm up, and hard right before I do adagio ;) lol lucky i have a 2 hr. ballet class to do all those
i say your a really good dancer + for a few months ur faboulous ive been doing pointe for about one year + im rubishh i only go dancing once a week oh well lol keep dancing ! x
turn out turn out ! maybe don't get freeds ? i think those are freeds, they sure look like it.. maybe capezios. try grishko 2007s ? they work for a lot of people. anyways you're good.
What does it take to get on pointe. I'm starting in ballet on monday the 11th of august in a what you would call "advanced beginners?" if you understand. it means i'm starting in a class where i'm not with the 7 yr olds. ive been dancing for a long time but never actually taken a class. But I really want. I mean REALLY BADLY! and i dont care if people say it hurts. Ive gone through a lott of pain in my life. I can already do 11 piroettes what should I do to get on pointe fast?
I'd suggest trying a pair of Gaynor Mindens. I've only been on pointe for about a week, but I tried on a few different kinds of pointe shoes and so far I've liked Gaynor Mindens the best. That's what I have, too.
I agree with rolling through demi pointe. Really really work on that. Also, I usually walk around en demi pointe for a few minutes when i first get new shoes just so they break in where i want them. your best bet is to go see your fitter. If you have a good fitter, he'll be able to tell you if you need new shoes and what to get. Also, USE YOUR TEACHER. your instructor is your best resource for questions relating to pointe work.
the shoes dont look too bad =) try working on rolling through your demi pointe a little more. and watch lisa howells video on how to break in pointe shoes, its amazing and really works =D
so sory a bout the shoes!! my aadvice dont try to brak in the shoes just let your feet do it and try a new brannd like gaynors or grisckos of blochs. but the only way to find the perfect shoe is by trial and error what ever u do dont get freeds they never wrk!!
and they don't look too bad in the shoes, either. it sometimes ends up being a matter of trial and error with pointe shoes[i've tried soooo many different kinds].
one of the only things i would say is to hold your turnout!
you are not that bad! If you think your bad, you won't get any better! Have a positive attitude! And just try to turn out from your thighs a little more. Believe me, it's very hard. My turn out is awful! Keep dancing!
you have a very good arch. ur pointes are very noisy and if you bang them on a hard surface it will quiet them down a bit keep dancing =]your point shoes are pretty!
I think its good :) I've been en pointe for a month & its really exciting. My teacher says im progressing fast which is awesome, she said i can be en pointe for the end of year show. I'm going to post a video of me en pointe so people can give me advice too. Do you have any tips or anything for me?
my tip is practice hard, hold ur body and really majorly stay over the boxes. And if u dont have a good arch on ur point then work on that. U can aslo ask ur teacher
I think they look very nice, it looks like the only spot they need breaking in is in the demi. my shoes, on the other hand, are breaking in exactly the wrong place, haha. What kind of shoes are those, out of curiosity?
Near the beginning when you go up on pointe in 5th your back foot turns in a bit. Make sure you work on maintaining your turnout, but your over the shoe and have a good arch. Practice makes perfect :)
You have beautiful feet! Try to work through your demi pointe a little more. Other than that, you are doing as well as expected for a beginner. Don't get discouraged...you'll be wonderful! Take care, and God bless!
lol I love the noise the ground makesle *shuffle shuffle shuffle*

Go to dance direct, they have very good ones cheap and all.

Your NOT that bad!! The shoes dont look bad either!! But if they are,, i would advize you to get new ones, so bad habbits don't form!!

so sory a bout the shoes!! my aadvice dont try to brak in the shoes just let your feet do it and try a new brannd like gaynors or grisckos of blochs. but the only way to find the perfect shoe is by trial and error what ever u do dont get freeds they never wrk!!
dance4change918 3 years ago
i actually quite like your feet..
and they don't look too bad in the shoes, either. it sometimes ends up being a matter of trial and error with pointe shoes[i've tried soooo many different kinds].
one of the only things i would say is to hold your turnout!

you are not that bad! If you think your bad, you won't get any better! Have a positive attitude! And just try to turn out from your thighs a little more. Believe me, it's very hard. My turn out is awful! Keep dancing!

I think its good :) I've been en pointe for a month & its really exciting. My teacher says im progressing fast which is awesome, she said i can be en pointe for the end of year show. I'm going to post a video of me en pointe so people can give me advice too. Do you have any tips or anything for me?
Roseith 3 years ago
my tip is practice hard, hold ur body and really majorly stay over the boxes. And if u dont have a good arch on ur point then work on that. U can aslo ask ur teacher

I think they look very nice, it looks like the only spot they need breaking in is in the demi. my shoes, on the other hand, are breaking in exactly the wrong place, haha. What kind of shoes are those, out of curiosity?
dearprudence05 3 years ago
I think you've broken them in the right place, it looks right at least.
Good for first few months. I'm beginning my third month en Pointe too. ^_^

Near the beginning when you go up on pointe in 5th your back foot turns in a bit. Make sure you work on maintaining your turnout, but your over the shoe and have a good arch. Practice makes perfect :)

When did you start ballet?
water4637232 4 years ago
when i was 5 but then i quit when i was 7 and started again when i was 10
brazilchic101 3 years ago
make sure to always roll down and up through a high demi pointe. your arches are great =]
dancergirl221 4 years ago
You have beautiful feet! Try to work through your demi pointe a little more. Other than that, you are doing as well as expected for a beginner. Don't get discouraged...you'll be wonderful! Take care, and God bless!
