I've just bought the entire 'Hancock's Half Hour' TV collection. Sid was SO good in this. They played off of each other beautifully. And contrary to many stories, he and Tony Hancock were incredibly close - even after their professional parting.
Great guy who like many of his generation of entertainers, worked too hard at a time when real good work was vital ; live tv etc. He also played hard too which the story of which was on his face. What a legacy of super fun work he left for us with the likes of Bless This House also being available on dvd
I realise today is his anniversary April 26th. Thank you Sid for the entertainment you gave to so many and your passing is so poignant and in a strange way depicts life as a stage when we pretend it to be something else entirely. Your life and death holds a special message for us all. In life laugh and be happy and in death, dont let death convince us. Thats Sid for all the laughter
@pickyantivirus I was born 1984 and too wasn't part of that great Carry On era, but its great that it has been passed down to our generation and Sid James was by far the funniest member of the Carry On team.
At least he passed away the way he would off wanted. On stage in the arms of a beautiful woman with laughter in the throats of the audience.R.I.P Sid you are still missed.
god bless him ,i miss so much the british sense of humour so well captured by the carry on films. this country has gone to the dogs now. a total disgrace.
@hammys123 ah shut up you gumb cliche. There's always someone like you to come out with sun/mail reader comments to spoil the enjoyment of these clips.
Do yo really think it's boring stiffs like you who make this country anything? Even Sid was an immigrant! (yes, bless him) get over it!
