This is a really cool video :) As I wrote to RR, I wont blame him foir quiting work to live better financially. However, 2 disadvantages would be a low seft esteem and also a spotty work history on his resume-which could bite him on the ass later on.
Very true. I'm not really opposed to the idea either. But his refusal to quit for a better life for a disabled wife and child negates his raising the issue of people being better off not working and therefore won't.
I have a pretty good feeling too that there is a lot being left out of his story.
You don't see a problem with people not working? What about some self-respect? Isn't that a good enough reason why someone would want to continue working?. Some people want to do more than just sitting on their couches. Maybe when SS has no more money available, people who have a job will be more prepared
However, if people aren't leaving their jobs for public assistance, then this negates the argument of people leaving their jobs for public assistance. If RR stays working even though he'd have more not working, then half of his argument is invalid by his own example.
As for SS not having money left eventually, check their website. It's a common myth. The trust fund is at over $4 trillion and growing annually.
I am a bit further into the process than you seem to assume here. But the point of my video was not the details of my case. I have literally hundreds of pages of correspondence with SS over the last few years, but that is not the point. the point of my video is about practical application of 'help' when you cannot even truly determine who needs help on anything but a case by case basis, which is not practical in a population of 300 million.
Just understand my position that someone claiming the system to be broken is citing a rule of disability insurance with SS that doesn't exist and then extrapolating upon that to cite that assistance is unfair.
SS is not interested in determining who needs help. They deny everyone. But we can look to other systems (Norway, Canada, Finland, even S. Korea) and see that they're able to pull it off.
Good to see videos from you again. Even really enjoyed the Poker game info. I still suck more then anyone though. I love the explanation in this video of SSI.
