nice truck, The 6.5 diesel has gotten a bad rap mostly from prople that dont know what they are talking about. I have had a 95 k3500 6.5 dually for the last 6 years with 172 K miles and it is the best truck I have ever owned.
@baconator722 Yeah i would but do your research on one, there are good and bad ones. going back to maintaince and what not. but do your research and understand there are bugs in em but just fix em and you can have yourself a good diesel with awesome fuel economy.
good looking truck man... JUST the right amount of smoke too and then clears up after turbo is spooled, the way its supposed to run. These Idiots that think smoke = power are morons. Smoke = wasted fuel.
i sold my 94 6.5 because it was a terrrible motor. first year they went to electronic and i had all kinds of money wrapped up in it. buddy had a 92 and loved it. course it didnt have all the electronic bullshit. long story short, you either had a good one pr you had a bad one.
Now the altimate replacement for the GM-6.5 is the AM-General Optimizer 6500, it only visually looks the same and shares the same CID the rest is completely different engine . . . better casting higher grade material IHC injection pumps no more Stanadog's !
For the uneducated in the ways of the 94+ GM-6.5's,The PMD or Pump Mounted Driver is the device mountedon the side of the injection pump.
It over heats and fails, when you get a new Injection it coes with a new PMD so there the truck runs again hence why most say they have bad injection pums . . .
Now some relocat the PMD to the intake manifold where it in due time dose fail again, me i reloctaed my PMD out side the engine bay and used a high heat resistant PMD never had that issue again !
Thats just like my dads old 95 GMC it was green tho. I loved the truck itself, but the powertrain was pure junk, it went thru two of em in 130k miles workin on the farm. The 6.5 just wasnt built right. Now we run duramaxes and a few 350's(my truck an the ol' 1 ton) the duramaxes are a million times better in every way
@HURSTSSAMX its only unreliable if your an idiot and do not know how to properly maintain a diesel ive seen many that have 300K+ miles on them and run like new
@CrackinVTEC666 Oh ya ? so routine PMD failure is reliable ? oh i'm sorry "Injection pump" failure as most morons keep replacing a $1,400 unit when it the the $200 unit that has failed . . .
I had, Key word "HAD" a 95' K2500 sold it at 139K miles truck was infieror to any diesel truck i have previously owned:
98.5' RAM3500 24V-5.9.
01' RAM2500 24V-5.9HO.
08' Sterling 5500 24V-6.7C/T.
I got 40+ year old Gaser's that have and still Pull loads that 6.5 wouldn't even move !
@HURSTSSAMX Haha yeah well when you dont know what you doing, i imagine anything can be a pile. Mine was awesome and i had a duramax after it, so i know the difference but still loved mine and miss it.
@HURSTSSAMX I have the same engine in my truck and it runs just fine. Youre just an ignorant fuck. Don't want another diesel? Good! More for me! Go suck a cock and drive a Prius.
@wellgeo03 Theres a company that sells a bigger fuel bowl and bigger lines to your injection pump so less draw for everything. noticed a good difference.
different wastegate.injectors intake exhaust different fuel bowl and resistor..custom burned chip. pmd remount..bigger lift pump. it ran very well but i sold it before i got a hell of a nitrous shot onto it.
@cocky444XT You are NOT at 300 HP I can tell you that. I dont even think Heath's Land Speed 6.5 Truck is 300 hp with twins on it. But I wouldn't call a 6.5 sluggish when it has the right mods.
@cocky444XT What exactly do you believe I dont know what Im talking about? Have you seen what I drive?
Find the Dyno Sheet for a 6.5 thats over 300 hp and I'll give you my truck.... Heath never posted numbers... he just made the claim that his is 400 or whatever..... Show me some papers.
that truck is... GORGEOUS. my brother has the same style, with a 5 inch tip, newly swapped detroit. But his is rusty as hell... supposedly going to redo all the panels and box this summer.. hopefully by fall i'll be able to buy a 6.2 and put a turbo on it or just buy a 6.5 if i make enough money lol..
Respectable!

Slick truck. Just shitty motor. In the 90s the Cummins and PowerStroke were the best Diesels you could buy. I love my 7.3 PSD.
