  • Thanks for the reminder. Haven't done this drill in a long time. Keep up the good work, Brother. God Bless you & yours.

  • Very cool practice tip bro!

  • Is that tactical #2 pencil mil-spec? Is the eraser case brass or steel?

  • Now do it with a silver doller!

  • Nice drill. Thanks for sharing. The heavier the trigger the harder this is. Ive noticed how much easier this is with a match trigger. Hope that is not cheating, lol.

  • You could do this with a 1911, too ... except the pencil will go shooting across the room when the firing pin strikes it. :-D

  • I first saw this here: (1 minute mark) watch?v=FtbkPFoI7H4 I like their idea of using a friend (or I suppose in this day and age you could just use a video camera) to watch for hesitation in your eyes as you fire the round.

  • Very good tips!

  • i just see this somewhere but i cant place it...

  • need to do this with my cz52 i have been shooting way low with it. I looked and realized it completely brings the front sight post out of my view.

  • ah dumb

  • For anyone that cares, this is also known as the Washer Test. Anyone that has been in the military has done this. It can be done with any type of rod that is rigid. And with anything that is circular and flat, coins, washers, et cetera.

If you think you have aced the test with a pencil, start doing it with an assembled M16 cleaning rod. Just be in position and have a friend place the test device on the rod. Place the device on the tip of the rod for a tougher challenge.

  • This would work for a pistol as well, correct?

  • @paulpm I have seen others do the same things with their glock pistols

  • i use slim jims, is that ok?

  • Thanks for sharing.

    Glock n Load,

    Mike

  • COOL!

  • I do the same drill but balance a half dollar on the barrel instead of a pencil.....good vid man....it's the little things like that.....that makes a big difference when breaking the perfect shot.

  • Just tried it with my Keltec PF 9. Hope it helps me overcome my jerking motion based on the recoil... Thanks J R

  • What coin did you use? It does matter, the bigger the coin, the more instable the coin sits on the the pencil.

A penny will be a lot easier to keep on the pencil compared to a 1 Oz Silver Eagle.

  • Oh yea! that brings back an old memory

  • I don't know why you don't shoot the magic bullet method that is how I see most other people shoot.

  • Oldie but goodie. Tougher than it looks

  • Cool video this would work also with a revolver I am thinking. Thanks

  • Another great simple method of working on fundamentals. BTW this is great material for those of us who have 'been out a while' (USAF 1982). Thanks for your service to our nation and to us 'fellow youtubers' as well. "A new record :) I dislike literally just over a minute after I uploaded this" pay no attention to the ragers who hate, IMHO you provide a much needed service to the Shooting Community.

  • hey miller, got any advice for a yong shooter ?

  • A new record :) I dislike literally just over a minute after I uploaded this. lol

  • @millerusaf I hate those idiots, YT really needs to give us a way to track and eliminate this kind of trolling.

  • @millerusaf Haters gonna hate
