Our Bible is still the original Hebrew one. Torah scrolls are the Old(only)Testament written on parchment a certain way that gives it its holiness. This very same Torah is what the Bible tells us Moses wrote. We don't struggle with 7 different translations. We've got the real deal. The Rabbis when forced by the sword of King Ptolemy to translate the Torah they didn't exactly give away the store. Much of the translation had intentional vagaries
Judaism had no "denominations" until the 19th century. When Napoleonic freedoms caused many Jews to leave G-d reform was a way of placating their conscience. Our religion was and is constant for three millenia. As G-d said "I the Lord have not changed". We believe in the same G-d of Abraham. He doesn't rescind commandments nor sire offspring. The idea of G-d procreating is as strange to us as LDS is to other Christians.
Btw Paul's name whas Shaul of Tarshish Mathew's was Mattoi.
Respectfully, rabbi I'd like to point out the obvious. Who wrote your Torah scrolls in your temple? A lesbian scribe? An Orthodox male Sofer did. Are you familiar with the laws of writing one? The religion that believes G-d's laws no longer apply is CHRISTIANITY. Judaism rejected this
concept. Over the centuries your ancestors and mine gave their lives for this
. The same Talmud that tells you what Tzitzit are, talks of Mitzvos, sin, Gan Eden and Gehinom (Heaven and Hell). Use your head!
They do not live by love because they ignore the word of God. Homosexuality is condemned in scriptures. And are you suggesting that Jesus approved of homosexuality? If you are, that's laughable. "Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
@IanLoewen Well he doesn't seem to disapprove. Never once did he speak out against it in his ministry. But he was presented with a homosexual relationship. The Roman Centurian who came before christ because his "servant" was sick. The greek word for "servant" used in this instant actually means a valete who's primary job is to perform sexual acts for his Master.
@IanLoewen It's obvious from the dialog between the centurian and Jesus that the centurian truely and deeply loves this "servant" so Jesus doesn't say to him, "I'll heal him if you clean up your filth and get out of that lifestyle and return straight." he simply says, "Go, this man has been healed."
@IanLoewen New your second point 1 Corinthians 6:9-10. First of all this does not come from the Gospels, therefore has nothing to do with Jesus. This comes from Paul, who by the way was regarded as a heretic by much of the Early Church Fathers, Peter, James, John, Matthew, and others. It wasn't until about the third century that he and his teachings became accepted.
@IanLoewen But I'll address the issue of this passage. The word used for "homosexual" is arsenokoitai. There was no word for "homosexual" until around the late 1800s just before the turn of the century, largely because there was no such thing as sexual orientation until the late 1800s. Up until this time that word was translated as ifeminent, soft, sodomite (another word made up by the church, particularly Thomas Aquinas)
@IanLoewen But if you go to any biblical translator of scholar they will tell you that they don't know what that word truely means. It's translation is lost to history. So we really cant say what it could be. It's simply a recent tradition that it mean "homosexual"
@IanLoewen Now furthermore the book of Corinthians was written to an ancient people whose entire claim to fame was the fact that they boasted to having the largest Temple and selection of Temple prostitutes in the Ancient World. Men could pay to have sex with young boys, to essentially rape them, as a form of worship. I, like Paul, am against this as well.
@IanLoewen And on that note when the bible does deal with homosexual acts it deals with them in the context of either occult worship (Leviticus & Deutoronomy), or pedophilia (Romans & Corinthians), or violent rape (Sodom) it never once deals with them in the context of loving monogimous relationships. That's what I'm intrested in, loving, one on one relationships.
Both of these people are good role models for our young people who are struggling with their sexuality. Judaism has to grow and breath not be stagnant that's why I prefer Reform to all others.

Whhaaaaaa. Gay female Rabbi? Gay Episcopal Priest? At least the muslims will never allow gay Imams. Maybe we will keep a little integrity within the Abrahamic tradition. Cant they just find a religion that doesnt condemn their lifestyles? There are plenty of religions out there. I wish people would stop trying to change religions that dont fit their desires.
Obviously you have threw the word of YHWH in the trash can.
Where are your scriptural refrences to back up what comes out of your mouth?
God has not left His children in confusion, He has given us the scriptures to study and enable us to recognize lies and wolves in sheeps clothing. Mat 7:15 "Beware of false prophets who come to you in sheeps' clothing but inwardly are savage wolves.
You can't tell a bird not to fly and a fish not to swim. It's their nature and one cannot change it.

@IanLoewen Why? Cause they live by love rather then dogma? Jesus seemed to approve of this.
