On a note about the director Tomas Alfredson, you could check out his fathers

(Hans “Hasse” Alfredson) work… Then you can see were he is coming from.

Tomas can be compared to the likes of Max Brooks. (Hans IS Sweden’s Mel Brooks).

i personally thought the plot was all over the place and towards the end i just got really confused. Not my kind of movie. Maybe reading the book would have helped. But i don't really know why the critics are rating this so highly. maybe i missed something but i doubt it. Watch 'Drive'

And of course it is aesthetically brilliant. And there was one particular scene with Benedict Cumberbatch that really worked to establish tension. But overall I still found it just OK.

I saw it last night and found it ok. I thought it was pretty similar to Page 8, and not just 'cause its a spy flick, but more 'cause at least at the start, none of the characters have any development And the protagonist (Gary Oldman) is given nothing to work with. Like Bill Nighy in Page 8, its another good actor wasted on a bland part. It wasn't until Tom Hardy arrived that I actually managed to care about anything. It did get better as it went on, and it ended really well I thought.

Great review. I wasn't as charmed by the film as yourself. I do respect and appreciate it's craft but I did not enjoy what I saw, I thought it was slow and the characters were uninteresting.
