She gives such an original interpretation of Elphaba. Like, I've listen to a lot of other Elphie's "first" Defying Gravitys, and although they are all obviously very talented, they all kinda one and the same. You've heard one, you've heard them. Standard, belting women.

@markbuell99 It was her 25th Birthday the day she started, so she was 24 when offered the role and 'technically' graced the stage at 24 (given the fact that she will have had a full run through before her birthday).

After Kerry Ellis (AMAZING!) I think this is a hard act to follow. But, while I think Alexia will NEVER be as good as Kerry, I'm confident she will do her part well and give it justice.
I think some comments on here are unfair - Alexia is very young and does a good job on a much loved, high-pressure role. Everybody has their faves but there are so many differing opinions on who's the best Elphaba. Who's to say you're right? Anybody slagging off this girl, please remember the casting agents know the business better than you. When you are working on the professional stage, then you have a right to be that critical. Until then, just give her a chance to show what she can do!

I love the way Alexia Khadime plays Elphaba-she plays the part much younger than others and she puts so much passion in her voice. This really makes for a great experiance because Elphaba is such a passionate character. I still get chills listening to her sing this song!

Okay can everyone remember this was her FIRST performance, and the recording is AWFUL. Go back to Kerrys first performance, Idinas first performance, I bet they weren't that hot! The audience seem to love it. I have seen Kerry AND Alexia, and both are talented, in this role I personally prefer Alexia, she is more emotional and her acting is on another level. But you seem to forget this was probably recorded on a mobile phone, and it was her first EVER performance! You should've seen her.

Exactly.. it's a bit silly judging on this audio. I mean she'd come into a musical where all the leads were already established their characterisation and she had to not only find hers but make it fit with Dianne/Oli's. I miss her already :( Most people didnt give her a chance.. oh well, their loss I suppose.

Absolutely disagree. they r not similar Jwrry is a very nasal singer wich is not suited to musicals at all whare Alexia is classical and more traditional musicality.. Kerry is good but does not match the standard of Idina & Alexia
ummm not suited for musicals....WTF!!!!!! she was outstanding both We Will Rock You and Les Mis prior to doing wicked. Kerry is very much on par with those two. Kerry is also a trained vocalist, but she also sings rock music, each woman brings something of thier past to the part. how is Kerry nasal?, she doesn't sound it to me.

Kerry...who has the most phenomenal voice I've ever heard, has problems with her emotions while acting as Elphaba. Alexia has a much better understanding of the role and sheis no where near over the top! If you don't believe me about Kerry's emotions look at some of her videos...( Though her 8.5.08 performance was quite good...)

I am Alexia's biggest fan, well one of them, lol and I must admit it is a bit too growly but it was her first performance and for a first performance it was AMAZING. If you think she is growly check some more recent videos, she is (in my opinion - and I have heard alot of Elphie's) the best Elphaba!

Seriously, why does everyone compare her to Kerry? It really annoys me. Kerry is amazing in her own right and will always be the first English Elphie. Whoever took over from her was going to have it tough but I think Alexia's done a fantastic job and deserves longer in the role. I understand that she's not what everyone expects from Elphaba but many people feel like that about Kerry too. If she had played it exactly the same as Kerry, you'd still slate her for that too.

I saw Alexia last week and she was amazing to be fair to her. She really gets the emotion with the part and plays it really well, better than Kerry Ellis and I'm a big fan of her. She's so young and is better than most of the elphabas before her. Nobody will ever be as good as Idina but Alexia deffinately comes second and her and Dianne are fab together :)
We saw her tuesday evening, I was so taken after this song, t6hat during the interval I went and spent £16 on the CD (I never buy the Cds of musicals as I think they are a ripp off) only to realise that the CD they sell us is the USA cast.....
Alexia is superb. I have been in musicals all my teens and adult life, and seen most of London's one: she is by far the best performer I have seen in London. Brilliant.

I feel so sorry for Alexia. people are being so mean!!!! I agree she isnt as good as Kerry Ellis but be fair!!! She is good as Elphaba!!! I think the growling is cute :P She was the first Elphaba i ever saw and although i prefer Amanda Harrison and (my favourite) Idina Menzel, Alexia brings out a whole different personality in Elphaba. I think thats a good thing!

Exactly.. it's a bit silly judging on this audio. I mean she'd come into a musical where all the leads were already established their characterisation and she had to not only find hers but make it fit with Dianne/Oli's. I miss her already :( Most people didnt give her a chance.. oh well, their loss I suppose.

I used to think this was amazing, and it is, dont get me wrong but she improved SO much. When you look at her first performance and her last, she sounded a lot younger here. Bless her. I want her back :(

ive onli seen kerry as elphaba and by listening to this she sounds really similar to kerry.
but tbh i dont think anyone will be able to beat kerry when it comes to playing elphaba, shes just got such a unique voice for musicals

Absolutely disagree. they r not similar Jwrry is a very nasal singer wich is not suited to musicals at all whare Alexia is classical and more traditional musicality.. Kerry is good but does not match the standard of Idina & Alexia

ummm not suited for musicals....WTF!!!!!! she was outstanding both We Will Rock You and Les Mis prior to doing wicked. Kerry is very much on par with those two. Kerry is also a trained vocalist, but she also sings rock music, each woman brings something of thier past to the part. how is Kerry nasal?, she doesn't sound it to me.

fantine is not a oh so fantastic role look how many other singers have played that big deal Alexia is more than that role. I do think u guys r just being very unpleasant towards Alexia you is a very pleasant person u should have taken the time 2 meet her. like it or not Alexia was absolutely brilliant in the role of Elphie

When I think how long she's bn doing the role by now I expect class & i'm not getting that from her & really think she good but over hyped I'm still waiting patiently 4 that winning perf

i think she is amazing as Elphaba, portrays her the best as i could imagine her to be! I was blown away by her performance! It did sound alot from this though, so she has shown alot of improvement on how to sing the role!

Kerry...who has the most phenomenal voice I've ever heard, has problems with her emotions while acting as Elphaba. Alexia has a much better understanding of the role and sheis no where near over the top! If you don't believe me about Kerry's emotions look at some of her videos...( Though her 8.5.08 performance was quite good...)

I am Alexia's biggest fan, well one of them, lol and I must admit it is a bit too growly but it was her first performance and for a first performance it was AMAZING. If you think she is growly check some more recent videos, she is (in my opinion - and I have heard alot of Elphie's) the best Elphaba!

Alexia khadime was Spelbinding, I watched her perform in wicked on thursday 23rd october. This was truly an award winning performance. Amazing!!! I think after seeing the cast and Alexia perform so good I dont think I could watch anyone else play Elphaba

why does everybody love kerry ellis so much, in my opinion i think shes the worst elphaba londons seen, i saw alexia khadime last week and she was amazing, this video isnt very good qaulity, she sounds much better live. but anyone would. kerry ellis is by far my worst elphaba.. i ahte the way she looks, shes just... not right.

Seriously, why does everyone compare her to Kerry? It really annoys me. Kerry is amazing in her own right and will always be the first English Elphie. Whoever took over from her was going to have it tough but I think Alexia's done a fantastic job and deserves longer in the role. I understand that she's not what everyone expects from Elphaba but many people feel like that about Kerry too. If she had played it exactly the same as Kerry, you'd still slate her for that too.

I saw Alexia last week and she was amazing to be fair to her. She really gets the emotion with the part and plays it really well, better than Kerry Ellis and I'm a big fan of her. She's so young and is better than most of the elphabas before her. Nobody will ever be as good as Idina but Alexia deffinately comes second and her and Dianne are fab together :)

We saw her tuesday evening, I was so taken after this song, t6hat during the interval I went and spent £16 on the CD (I never buy the Cds of musicals as I think they are a ripp off) only to realise that the CD they sell us is the USA cast.....
Alexia is superb. I have been in musicals all my teens and adult life, and seen most of London's one: she is by far the best performer I have seen in London. Brilliant.
