true story guy, when I was an embryo yet unborn, I lived this song thru Gilmour's guitar. My mom played it to me thru her tummy and I was born, bred, to LOVE this song.
So now at the tender age of 12 I can not only identify with the song, but I genuinely hate anything that is not this song.
Beiby baby and all that slack auto tune shit can fuck off.
I'm just swimming in that fishbowl ... What a sweet/shinning soul... what a fantastic musican...what a time we've had when this song came out ...what have we missed without this superb song, sang by David G.
@56goldlespaul I love pink floyd, all kinds of metal, blues, jazz, classical guitar, flamenco guitar, I have love for all good music and I can tell you, that good rap/hip hop exists.
@56goldlespaul I know that it exists. It's hard to find though. And it's nowhere near as amazing as something like this. And it's not nearly as creative as this.
@56goldlespaul Why so negative? I actually don't really mind techno. And the goal shouldn't be getting people to realize how bad one style of music is...it should be getting people to realize how great another is. As far as I've known, no one was ever a bad person for loving many types of music.
It's tragic that a generation of youngsters are growing up thinking that the X-Factor karaoke singers represent talent. I just hope they see the light one day and don't miss out on geniune musical genius forever.
True story guys - when i was younger i went to watch gilmour and whilst he was swapping guitars i shouted out "your the daddy!" to which he replied "well thats a new one!" Something i will remember forever..and as im sure you will agree..it will always be the truth! i was about 15 at the time and my dad sat open mouthed next to my mum shaking his head saying "our daughter just spoke to david gilmour!" lol
I have to agree with all, David's voice does get better. When you listen to this live version, it sounds every bit as good as the album version. Who else can do that?
Yeah Im 15 and started listening to pink floyd when i was 12. I heard echoes on the radio as we arrived home one day and refused to get out the car until i'd heard who the band was.
Put it this way....I'm 58 and am a huuuge Floyd fan...but I see 28 yr olds with Floyd shirts...hell 18 year olds love their music...There is a hand full of groups that can withstand this test of time...The Stones..Led Zep..maybe AC/Dc....but no one really captures music like Pink Floyd...IMHO..
18? i was 13 when i first started getting into floyd, now im 17, have everyone of there albums and live albums,i built a guitar in tribute to them, And consider myself there nomber one fan(i know wer all there number one fans) unfortunatly i was born too late to have the plesure of seeing them live, I belive pink floyd and bands like them such as Hendrix expirience, Led Zeppelin, Eagles and the such well stay forever, but the modern music will be forgotten by the middle of next week,,
Let me say, as a 23 year old I agree with you somewhat, the bands you have mentioned are def fantastic. But I also ask of you to give some modern music a chance, because there are GREAT bands out there at the time.....but don't expect to find them on the radio. You will have to dig deeper depending on what music you like.
It doesn't matter how many great bands are out there if they're not promoted. You can dig deeper, I can, a thousand, maybe more people can dig deeper, but there will never be as many guys digging for good music as they are watching MTV. Sure there will be bands playing good music like Chickenfoot is right now that will be promoted well and will get big. But there will never be bands like Floyd that created songs which still are, now, after more than 30 years, standards in music, like Shine.
Couldn't agree more. The trouble is there is a lot more crap to sort through to find them. Also, I think the music industry puts too much pressure on new starting bands to produce an album as quickly as possible and so what they produce tends to be under done and they never get the opportunity to mature and perfect their music. We are in effect trending to the music equivalent of fast food.
One of the best but between Gilmour and Waters there is only one winner ......Waters! who else produced a motion picture from an album and proceeded to perform it live in front of millions without a string snapping..He is God in disguise!
1994's (PULSE tour), the thunderous intro by the audience before this song was amazing, but this isn't just thunderous ... it's another type of wonderful phenomenon -- UTMOST RESPECT for THE MAESTRO himself! Love you David!
Indeed very good to see Rick again, if i might add i loved his work on The Great Gig in the Sky.
Plus his voice on a lot of great Pink Floyd Classics, like Wearing the inside out. (And i think the Remastered CD version of that song is way better with the backing vocals but thats my opinion)
Rick we miss you, as much as i miss Pink Floyd as a whole!
This song is about Syd. Sad he went crazy but I am glad to see that David is growing more and more healthy in mind body spirit and music. Roger God help him I think is still trying to do stuff with the wall. He needs to grow past that. Gilmour is brilliant and inspirational. RIP..Rick I will miss his soft voice and keyboards
