I think it's because infants have to eat pureed food and some foods need to be softened (cooked) before they will puree.

some fruits like apples pears and bananas dont need to be cooked but others do especially for younger babies

younger babies (6-8 months)digestive system is very delicate..they cant handle the raw fruits..
