I think Faye Dunnaway was vilified for this film. she should have won an Oscar. Joan Crawford was a seriously ill woman. What the film showed was the tip of the iceberg. The abuse would have been daily systematic and relentless. The film shows the theatrical moments of abuse but it would have been terrifying being in a house with this poor mad woman. I like the funny comments though. It shows that some people had sane parents and watching it isn't like a home movie.

I remember I was little and I hadn't seen the movie yet, but I heard the term "mommie dearest" ... I remember my mother told me to do something and I said to her "Yes Mommie Dearest" ... She got soooooo mad and slapped the shit out of me! AND I DIDN'T KNOW WHY!!!!! LMAO I saw the movie later on as an adult and it finally clicked why she hit me... LoL
