Doctor Who survives no matter what, David Tennant was brilliant! but so were the rest of the actors who portrayed the Doctor for the past 40 years.

people's opinions do not matter whatever they say, the show is beyond the people it's an institution for the public for everyone in all walks of life, but not for one crying out against one single actor or actress!, Matt will be good in his own way.

devastated tennant's gone now. anyone else unimpressed with matt smith's short intro? he seems a bit. . . not doctor-y. and slightly trying-to-hard-to-be-tennant. did you he him do that one laugh thing that tennant always does? copying or what. i am one extremely annoyed who fan. but he could bring good things to the series, maybe i just have to see him in action. . .

its unfair to say Matt Smith is trying to be David Tennant, i think thats untrue. I mean granted, all Doctors have that aire of fun and eccentricity to them, but he will be different obviously. they may as well just of had him with a DT mask all the time if he wasnt. Hes been cast for a reason and thats because he was the best for the role. Every doctor is different, as is the nature of the doctor and show, and new actors keep the show fresh and alive. i have faith in Matt Smith.

i guess it's hard to tell what he's like from a couple of minutes, but i've seen the trailor for the series in spring and granted he is different, and i really want him to be different. but just something about the way he acted with the laugh and the actions just looked like a david wannabe. but that might be russel t. davies fault. . .

i'm not prepared to give a definate opinion of him before i see him in action

well i suppose as they say, 'the proof is in the pudding' for lack of better phrasing here, and i agree, i will only form a firm standing opinion once the new series reaches our tv screens. As for the laugh and actions, i can sort of and sort of not see where you are coming from. Everyone has their own laughs and ways of doing things, it may be coincidence it was kind of similar. Although as it was straight from a fresh regeneration, whose to say there wasnt a bit of DT-doctor in there still

Yes, the show will be back in the spring with a fifth season (marketed as Series 1 by the BBC, confusing I know). Steven Moffat (who wrote The Empty Child, The Girl in the Fireplace, Blink, Time Crash, and Silence in the Library) will take over as head writer.

Matt Smith will be the Doctor with companion Amy Pond played by Karen Gillen. Winston Churchhill will be the traditional historic figure.

The new season will have many new monsters with only the Daleks returning early on.

As I mentioned, the show will be headed by Steven Moffat, one of the show's very best writers. He's never written a bad episode. In fact, all of his episodes are great. I'm not losing faith in Moffat.

i dont think its fair to compare every move of Matt Smith to David Tennant. i loved DT as much as the next, but MS has been cast for a reason, and its ludicrous that people will try and criticise him as a DT-wannabe. im excited for the new doctor, and with Mr. Moffat in the driving seat, i have no doubt that the new series is going to be very, very good. :)
