There I was, thinking all this great saxophonists made their instruments vibrate by some sort of breath control, and all the time they were saying wa wa wa wa wa! Can't wait to try this tomorrow.
he definitely is not using the correct form of vibrato. every teacher i've had has told me never to chomp on the read because it thins out your sound- instead, say "ayy ee ayy ee ayy ee ayy ee"
This is not the advice that you should be seeking.
i started learning vibrato with the wa wa wa wa, but then my band director said to pulse your airflow. its kinda like how hes saying go sharp a little bit, which is when you pulse, and then in between pulses it goes flat a little bit as to provide that equilibrium he mentioned. the theory is right, but i believe the pulsing method is much better
@Jyerobertjamesmusic listen here........ hes had that sax for a long time. hes my music teacher and i had him for 5 yrs. hes not some rich, snobby person tat wants everything perfect. so THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK.
is it possible to use your airflow for vibrato? i play the alto and i can use my airflow to have vibrato, but im not sure if thats an actual technique. I've tried to use the...wowowowowow technique, but it doesnt sound very good.
wow, thats easy

that sax is probably like 4 times your age, his tone is like that because he's a jazzer. That bright sound is what you want for most be-bop playing.

Hey, I'm a violinist and the way we do it is never go higher. the highest note is what people will hear as the note you "want" to hit.

@Jyerobertjamesmusic His tone is great and he has a selmer mark vi. best saxophone in history. Just because the lacquer is bad doesnt mean anything.
