  • 50 years ago, Ronald Reagan delivered a speech on similar terms called "A Time for Choosing". Instead of talking about $300 million/month we are now discussing $300 Billion/month, we are watching history repeat itself.

  • I like this Man.

  • Rubio how does Perry french kiss? Rubio and others who do this - stop being Republican just to hide the fact you are gay. Even though you are a make your face as expressionless as you can the gay is still apparent, though not as obvious as Marcus Bachmann. You got married and had children; everyone gets it you’re a complete follower. Do you have to take being in the closet THIS far? America is sick of you Hoover types! When he speaks Rubio needs to watch those S’s.

  • @thework4444 You are pathetic and this reply should be removed. You are what is wrong with this country.

  • @willdit1 What’s wrong with this country is that derps think they know something. Trying to get another Bush in office doofy?

  • @thework4444 This is exactly what I am talking about! The liberals in America have NO intellegent leg to stand on when it comes to how our country is declining due to the policies of the current administration so they resort to name calling. It is truly pathetic and very destructive. Why can't they state their position? We only ever hear name calling from the left. Sad...really sad.

  • @willdit1 You people just love fake little followers who say ONLY the things you want to hear. Republicans are the derps of the world! Repubs had control of everything for 8 years and the derps THAT VOTED THEM IN STILL cannot grasp ANYTHING! I LIKE HOW YOU SAID “CURRENT” administration as though you know deep down what is really responsible for all this mess…8 years of goofy mistakes and fraud, 2 ½ to clean it up…yeah you people are REAL smart lol.

  • @thework4444 banks. But since Obama has been President, he has made EVERYTHING WORSE. The only reason the democrats want to "help" the American people by wealth redistribution via welfare, food stamps, unemployment insurance for almost two years, etc is to get them to vote them back into office. Soon there will be nothing left to control. There will be nothing left to hand out. Then WHO is going to take care of all of you. WHERE IS JOHN GALT?

  • You are wrong. The democrats controlled the House AND the Senate in 2007 AND 2008. Both parties pushed that ALL Americans should own homes whether they could afford it or not since the Clinton administration. This is more of the so-called "rights" of every American that the left pushes. These policies forced the banks to lend to people that could NOT pay for the homes they purchased. This is what led to the collapse in 2008. Bush should have NEVER bailed out the

  • @willdit1 I like how all the Bush economists told us that there would be endless surpluses in 2003 when also government was 97% pampered closet homo republicans and the money that WAS left over was pissed away in mistakes and fraud. Derps love Enron and empires like them because they can be fooled to- it just has the name Republican. ANYTHING with the name republican is good right, even default? BTW I am not a liberal or a demo. I am voting Obama.

  • @thework4444 That was before he found out that the Democratic controlled Congress has hijacked the U.S. economy by forcing banks to lend to people who cannot afford a house. Bush had asked Congress to regulate Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac but your dumb politicians laughed him off as if they had ANY efing idea that the housing bubble was going to burst. See, the reason why people don't own houses is they don't earn enough money to pay for it in the first place.

  • @willdit1 Ooooops, sorry wildit1, that last comment I made was for thework4444 - if he is even working. Maybe someone who was hired by the Obama administration to blog and actually not do real work and get paid with government money. Hmmmmm.

  • @willdit1 Bush is 150% better choice than your Obama. He is nothing but a dumb lawyer who thinks he knows it all and found out too late that the reason why he is up there is because of stupid people like you who voted for him. Which more than half actually wish they never did. Hahahaha

  • @thework4444 What a disgusting thing to say. Do you assume that a person is gay because they happen to be attractive? I assume, from the things you say, that you are a complete idiot, but maybe I am wrong. Surely not a COMPLETE idiot. Everyone must have some redeeming quality, even a person like you , who makes assumptions based on what a man looks like.

  • This is the first time I've heard Senator Rubio. I must say I am impressed and this will be a future presidential candidate. And while many may say yes or no to that, I think with time and experience, he certainly will fit that role very well. I'm fairly certain he'll end-up Rick Perry's VP soon...and 8 years from now he'll be president.

  • " Restore our Republic" This senator gets it! We are a Republic not a Democracy. Our elected officials should stop calling America a Democracy. and remember that not once is Democracy mentioned in our Constitution or the Bill of Rights. He is a future president in waiting.

  • As an immigrant and Floridian, I am proud to have this brilliant leader in Washington.

  • A political debate in a YouTube comment thread is probably one of the most inane things I could possibly imagine.

  • Excellent orator, sounds like obama. Another corporate-tool undermining justice and democracy.

  • This is what a qualified president says -- not what Obama said.

  • @Wolfy1357 a conservative view of "social justice" differs from that of a liberal. Rubio has made it plain where he stands- against taxation & redistribution of wealth.

  • The Senator is well spoken, but I'm disappointed in his references to the $14 trillion debt we're approaching, but fails to mention that $8 trillion of that was added by a Republican President in his two terms, in what was suppose to be a time of economic prosperity. Now the current legislators are forced to deal with what is now considered to be reprehensible (raising the debt limit yet again), at a time when America actually needs the stimulus.

  • And WHOMEVER writes speeches for Obama should learn from this man.

Unless of course, Obama's speech writers intend the demise of this country.

In which case, the United States of America is in a fight for her very life, against those "advisers" to Obama, who should be fired.

If the blind lead the blind, shall they BOTH not fall into a ditch?

  • Marco Rubio is a leader who does not speak:

AT the people, nor TO the people.

Marco Rubio speaks WITH the people and FOR the people.

Yet ANYONE who knows ANYTHING about the role of Vice President of this nation, KNOWS the Vice Presidency is an impotent and lackluster position.

The best thing about Rubio is this:

HE HAS NOT GIVEN UP on our nation, our constitution and our people, while the horrible and treasonous rest of them have tucked their tails and run, Marco Rubio BELIEVES in US. THE U.S.

  • I am drawn to this man and see him as a future President. He displays intelligence and common sense....two rare traits for a politician these days.

  • I can't recall any Senator in my lifetime to have as big an impact so early in his career as Marco Rubio. This guy is the real deal!

  • God bless Marco Rubio. Here is a future president of the United States. He speaks so eloquently, so intelligently. What a class act!

  • Senator Marco Rubio gets it. His love for America, his knowledge of what our country was meant to be by our Founding Fathers. God bless Marco and his family. He is a shining light in a sea of disappointments with so many of those elected. I pray one day he will be President, I know everyone I know will vote for him. Thank you Marco for speaking out and your passion.

  • The Gipper is reborn. Ronald Reagan of the future. VP and then on to Presidency.

  • This guy give my chill bumps he is awesome. He is one of the more eloquent orators of this time. What he says makes sense and he comes across as knowing exactly what he is talking about. To me he is very Reaganess. I can't wait to hear more from him.

  • He is great and straight to the point. Love him. Hope he will be President one day.

  • A wonderful intelligent speaker with no STINKING TELEPROMPTER.

  • Future President.

  • I'm for a limited Gov't safety net, not a hammock.

  • Obama couldn't lead a three car motorcade or a group in silent prayer. Rubio is clear, concise and speaks so the people can understand him.

  • Mike Bee 02 - You are an asshole - Move to Europe

  • How can you argue with anything he said in this speech?

I think he outlined the situation and our options quite well. Democrats have a hard time arguing with this guy because they can’t drop the race card right off the bat, they can’t say he came from a privileged family…. All they can do is say he got corporate money. Something all politicians do… at least he gets his from American business owners with American interest in mind unlike Obama.

  • DillonDee1 you are one giant asshole.

  • Didn't want to stick around and finish up that FAA stuff, Rubio? You'd rather grandstand instead? You guys are clowns. Better freshen up your resume pal, because you're out of a job the first chance we get.

  • @mikebee02 The only reason I bother reading blogs from libs is for the chortle I get from reading infantile, Kool-aid-drinking nonsense from air heads like you. Show a little spunk (courage would be asking too much) and retort his comments line-by-line, and try to remember you get extra points when you show mature, insightful, reasoned, thought. Only then will you exhibit signs of having an IQ above room temperature. Respect for you is up to you. --make it count. 4 letter words are ignored. -e

  • Please run for President:

    1. You have a formidable TV appearance

    2. You know how to simplify things

    3. You can unite voters from all parties

  • Rubio is the biggest Corporate Whore in Congress & received more money from the Koch Brothers than any other Senator.

Now some Democrats are Corporate Whores, too....including Panetta who now heads the Def Dept & will fight to make sure there are no cuts for Defense Contractors.

  • @DillonDee1 <<< can't stand people making their own money. Believes money is the govts. to give out as they see fit. Poor Dill weed.

  • @ObowMao666 - dont know that Rubio's ever made his own money as I have - believe he's always been on the govt tit

  • What an incredible man! Each and every time he speaks it equals or betters the last time we have heard him. He has a grasp, a firm grasp, of what Our Beloved Country means to so many of us---and of what we are so close to losing.

Senator Rubio gives speech to my own thots.

May God continue to Bless him and keep him safe.

  • This is the most articulate and well balanced new Senator I've listened to.

  • This guys is awesome! He's on the level of some of our great leaders in history. Wish I had time to watch more of his speeches.

  • Holy F. Amazing Speech. Reagan 2.0

  • I really like Marco Rubio. He's a good speaker, has great ideas and isn't afraid of the old style "Bidness as usual" politicians.

  • Senator Rubio, I disagree that our current military power is 100% indispensable. We should close all foreign military bases, and bring all our troops home. Our military should never be used in acts of aggression. Ever.

I also disagree with your premise that it is within the proper role of government to provide a safety net. Private charities are completely capable of providing the necessary safety net for those who can't provide for themselves.

The rest of your speech is excellent.

  • Finally a Statesman. We haven't had a statesman in this country since Kennedy, he didn't last long enough to effect anything. I have a great feeling about Senator Rubio. He is an All American... I'm amazed... Like a Sub Comander, he doesn't have time for BS. This guy is Presidential Materal... now we need a Vice Pres who can walk beside him.

  • & thank You Senator Marco Rubio for not being afraid to speak-out on your Faith in God! It is only through His (God's) grace that we are even here today !

*Romans 1:16- "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth

  • @yadig2012 I feel the same way about his faith. Look on youtube for his commencement speech at Ava Maria Law School. It is wonderful and really gives you insight into his strong faith in God.

  • 1Putt4eagle, those words are too true, man! PLEASE give this guy 50 thumbs-up !

  • Perry is a member of Council on Foreign Relations. Bad Choice. Ron Paul and Rubio could get it done however. If we don't get a couplea good guys in charge, our republic is done for. Really...

  • Wow. You are simply amazing. Senator Rubio, can you give me speaking lessons?

  • Sometimes when i hear this man talk i get the feeling he Will be the president of the US one day. Never got that feeling about anyone. Sure as hell not the O man.

    Though chris mathews...

  • In a word... wow. And this guy's only going to get better with age! Watch Rubio become a major player in the coming decade and ultimately secure the party nomination for the GOP's Presidential candidate. Rubio & Christie are a breath of fresh air, hopefully they and their generational peers can blow away just enough of the dank and stale cloud that currently pollutes Washington so they can effect sensible and positive changes.

  • Too bad it's all lip service. No Republican will vote for revenue increases.

  • @ShaneBuff I think maybe you missed his point about increased revenue as a result of new jobs, peoples individual income growth and economic growth through new business development, not as a means of higher taxes on top of high inflation, high jobless rate during a recession.

  • Ron Paul/Marco Rubio 2012. Then we'd be good no matter what.

  • Rubio will be the on the GOP ticket in 2012

  • @thomasward00 man I wish! ! ! ! Could you imagine a Rubio/Perry ticket? It would be like Reagan in 84'!!

  • Magistral.... Bravo..... He reminds us of Obama at the beginning, with a key difference: Marco Rubio believes in the "exceptionalism of America", Obama thinks that America has been and still is "unfair". There is an ocean of difference between the two visions, I align myself with Marco Rubio

The other difference is that Rubio doesn't need a Teleprompter

  • look! no teleprompter

  • @groquecrushridge made it the whole way through....don't think I sat through an Obama in speech in over 2 years.

  • Wow, an articulate Republican! This is not so common, but even more uncommon among Democrats.

  • Awesome Speaker. Proud to have him as a Florida Senator.

  • Rick Perry for president and Marco Rubio for VP. That would be an unstoppable ticket right there.

  • @bw01a Considering Rubio doesn't run again for Senate until 2016 why not?

  • He has that nice-guy quality that appeals to independent voters. Personally I'd prefer a Republican who wants to tear the Democrats throats out.

  • marco rubio is my generations' ronald reagan. i hope to be able to cast a vote for him for president one day in the future. and sooner rather than later.

  • Senator Rubio is awesome. Did Obama ever deliver a speech half as nice while he served in the Senate, or was he too busy voting "present" and plotting his Presidential Run??

  • More, please!

  • John F Kerry didn't interrupt him this time.....wonder why?

  • @frogsoda Cause Thurston got his dumbass kicked :) :) Good times-eh?!

  • @kittenagogo28 Thurston. ROFL...Thanks for that. =)

  • True, the system isn't always pretty.

Two things you dont want to see made, hot dogs and legislation.

  • I'm glad that Rubio voted Nay. I can't believe so many supposed to be Tea PArty Republicans voted in favor of this. My favorte senators are Rubio, Demint, Lee and Rand Paul.

  • Beautiful, what a great speech. Not talking down to anyone, just laying it out there for us to decide.

  • Except for his thuggish foreign politics, he's a great statesman.

  • What do I want? I want the government to stay out of my way, and out of my wallet as much as possible. Take my money and pile stupid regulations on me, and I can't expand my income and pay more in taxes.

Mr. Rubio is much, much nicer here than I would have been.

  • I would love to see him debate Obama or especially Biden!

  • I think it's interesting how we endorse a politician for office on the basis of oratory skills, and then, at a later date, once he has been elected, once the allure has worn off, once the economy has failed to grow, criticize that politician for being a fangless orator, someone who uses words to deceive and distract the public rather than reinforce his leadership. How quickly our appreciation for rhetoric changes.

  • @merck4 I'm sure there was a point there somewhere. ?

  • @merck4 And I assume your point is that obama is a masterful, teleprompter-reading liar, backed up by a pimp media and the most inept, self-serving congress in history, leading the most ignorant, selfish, band of voters that even the Founding Fathers never thought would be possible. Guess what? ...You get it ! HOORAY !

  • Comment removed

  • @ewfuzzball777 Actually, I was just making an observation. Time and again, the public swoons for oratory skills in a candidate, and then condemns those skills in an elected official. In other words, that which makes us vote for a candidate becomes our reason for criticizing him/her. I wasn't making a partisan statement, but thank you for introducing such enlightened commentary.

  • @merck4 I like your comment. I will provide some counter point though. Speaking and doing are two different things. We see candidates and hope their good speaking translates into good doing. If you told your girlfriend again and again you loved her. So, you marry her and continue to tell her you love her. You don't do anything to help her but you say you love her. That love should have translated to action same as politicians words should translate into action.

  • What a great speech by Senator Rubio. He has great leadership qualities. Not only does he come across as sincere and forthright, but also seems to have a great quality to unite when need be, something that is extremely important for any successful leader. Haven't seen the likes of him in our government in a very long time. I hope one day he decides to run for our top office.

  • The United States of America needs PRESIDENT MARCO RUBIO!!

  • Sen. Rubio reaffirms my faith in politicians who are true to their values and what they believe is right. I am proud that Marco voted NO on this debt increase. He is a special gift to our Congress and I see a bright future for him in our Government. I sincerely hope that in his time Marco Rubio will say, "Yes, I will run for President as a true conservative Republican." He is a hope for Americans to see how our country can really be, not how it is now.

  • Every time I hear Senator Rubio speak, and as a Floridian I've been listening a long time, his positive outlook, his sincerity and his obvious pride in America reaffirms my own beliefs in the exceptionalism of this great country. Thank you, Senator Rubio.

  • What, a voice of reason in the nations capital? Amazing.

  • I voted for him. Very proud of him.

That being said, it will be hard to have him run for the top of the ticket in the 2012 election after the current occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave has proven what inexperience does for you.

He is the clear choice of whoever runs for he GOP ticket to pick him as their running mate. Can you IMAGINE him debating Biden? Popcorn time!

  • Extremist?? Or extreme common sense??? Way to go Senator Rubio!! I sincerely thank you for taking a strong stand!

  • I can think of no greater waste of this guy's talents than to be the Vice President of the United States. No Republican expresses it better. He should not carry someone's water. Top of the ticket or Majority Leader in the Senate. Playing the game isn't winning the game. Vision, principle, integrity and honor; these are things that constitute great leaders.

  • @1Putt4eagle ... you're right. I just hope there's enough time to get him there. That's why I thought he'd good on the ticket if he can't win the top job. I agree he could be a great leader and is exactly what we need now.

  • @1Putt4eagle Well said, not to mention we lose another seat in the Senate. We have so few who can actually explain conservatism, much less do it well, we can't afford to lose him to State weddings and funerals.

  • What an amazing speaker...

  • Wow, what an opener. Stepping back from politics. Thank you Senator Rubio.

  • Please, please run for president.

  • Brilliant speaker.

  • Could not have been said any better. This guy should be President.
