That's simply not true at all. Al-Battani, the astronomer and mathematician, was an Arab. Abulcasis, noted in history as the greatest surgeon of the Medieval period, was an Arab. Averroes, the Aristotelian philosopher who tremendously influence Western thought, was an Arab. All of these people were born, and had lived and studied in the greater Arabian Peninsula.

The term "Islamic science" generally is meant to refer to the scientific advancement that took place in the early Islamic civilization as a whole. It is not referring to science that was actually based around the text in the Qu'ran, which did and still does exist to some extent, and is indeed a load of theological snake oil.
The institutional embrace of ignorance and contempt for knowledge cannot be simply attributed to the Islamic religion. You have to take into consideration that Averroes read from the same book as al-Ghazali, yet they adopted entirely opposite theological interpretations. Clerical establishments aren't inherently threatened by knowledge unless it is contrary to their theological interpretation.

It simply became a banal military dictatorship. Marxism though does have a strange religiousity about it. In fact they all came from the advanced civilisations such as Persia and the Bizantine Empire, Syria and Spain. However, though intially the Muslim authorities allowed these civilisations to continue to prosper, it was not long before the jackboot of theocratic tyranny silenced them and progress ended.

That's simply not true at all. Al-Battani, the astronomer and mathematician, was an Arab. Abulcasis, noted in history as the greatest surgeon of the Medieval period, was an Arab. Averroes, the Aristotelian philosopher who tremendously influence Western thought, was an Arab. All of these people were born, and had lived and studied in the greater Arabian Peninsula.
I don't know whether to think you're a racist, or just wilfully ignorant when it suits you.

Baghdad is technically not part of the geographical Arabian Peninsula, but it was a city founded by the Abbasid Caliphate in the 8th Century, and is not pre-dated by earlier Mesopotamian settlement.
Iraq isn't a "civilization, it refers to either the geographic area between the Tigris and the Euphrates (Mesopotamia), or the modern nation-state that was artificially imposed by the British Empire after the Sykes-Picot agreement of 1916.

One of the main reasons for this is that science progressed despite Christianity and especially the Roman Catholic form of it. The term "Islamic science" generally is meant to refer to the scientific advancement that took place in the early Islamic civilization as a whole. It is not referring to science that was actually based around the text in the Qu'ran, which did and still does exist to some extent, and is indeed a load of theological snake oil.

You have to take into consideration that Averroes read from the same book as al-Ghazali, yet they adopted entirely opposite theological interpretations.
