I love his explanation here that his show was a way to "show the other side" of Bernie. He brings up excellent points on todays kids and their lack of respect as the a result of parents not laying down the law. As he discribes his Grandfather coming home, I think of my own dad and how his arrival home was the same - you better have things squared away or someone is going to "get it." As a father of five, I "rule" in the same manner because it will get my kids through the "tough times" as well.
Bernie Mac is a great conversationalist - he wasn't funny; he wasn't great; he was simply there for us. I love Bernie but he was selling and about business. If he wants me to believe the crap he's spouting he has another thing coming. I love his soul and I love his ways, but the man is really living a lie. Every black comic that "makes it" they got the same story: Richard Pryor/Bill Cosby influenced me. Also, my strongest influence was mom and my upbringing and family life. Plus, these guys act like what they do is so vital and important - it's not. The man got on stage, told jokes, even said he was a clown, but now I'm supposed to respect all these entertainers? They all full of crap high on their own mind. He aint dead (Ecclesiastes 3:21) when you leave this earth your spirit goes upward.
Actually every black comic does not have the same story but why is it difficult to believe that there is a common story amongst those who choose to become comics? The mother is often the primary caregiver in most black families. How does that become "bullshit" because he says his family is the most influential? As if you dont need help when choosing to become a comic. As if its an easy profession. Also, its my opinion that making someone laugh is a great talent to have. The world needs to laugh.

Yeah they do have the same story. First of all, we aren't black - black is a color. Secondly, these guys are just entertainers who really don't add nothing to our lives but seeing someone who has cash who aint feeding, clothing, or taking care of us. Anybody can make someone laugh, just be yourself. It's B.S. because nobody's family is influential on them; people say that because it's good press. You know who influences you? Pressure, need, food, survival - not family.
