Would it even be useful to "cure" autism? Sometimes the specialist knowledge of autistic people supersedes the importance of getting on with them.

@gamerunknown AUtism is not a single entity. It is a spectrum of disorders (ASD). Some of those affected cannot communicate or care for themselves, In the sense that ASD has genetic underpinnings and is associated with different brain wiring than "normals", the word "cure" doesn't seem appropriate. But interventions which enable the autistic person to enter the mainstream society are certainly desirable
