1) Dems didn't control Congress until 2006. Everything before that was Bush and his butt-buddy Republican friends. Did they ever deny him money?
2) And that's why us liberals have to keep bringing up Bush. Because you conservatives seemed to have done a damn good job of blocking the idiot out, as if the past eight years had 'just happened'
And when Obama screws things up, we aren't going to here the end of it for the rest of our natural lives.
Well, it seems that you too have jumped on the strawman bandwagon, of justifying further uncontrolled government spending, by bringing up past bad spending decisions by government. Bad decisions that have absolutely no bearing on, or proof of, whether or not these tea party activists even supported those bad spending decisions.
It seems that the liberal agenda is no better than the conservative agenda, at spending this country into irretrievable bankruptcy, but much more disingenuous about it.
The new Boss is allot like the old Boss. This is a one term President. This President may even out perform Jimmy Carter in his ability to invariably make the wrong decision. I am deeply disappointed.
So the question is whether our big government should fund massive entitlements or fund massive wars?
No, the choice is clear, we should do neither.
We should take back the power that has been delegated to do these things from those who have proven themselves untrustworthy.
Increase your self sufficiency and encourage others to do likewise. The system is crashing, if you don't want to crash with it, then you must free yourself from dependency. Retain hope because we will rebuild.
The corporations and their military enforcers are running the country and the wars. We cannot assemble anymore unless we are protesting for the corporations"teabaggers". No one mentions we are spending more per year on the military than the next 40 countries combined. These countries see a very real threat to their existance and will respond. Then we will spend more and the result will be a broken country armed to the teeth and angry as hell. Look out world!
All war is good war. Young people get to pretend they are fighting for their country. Equipment gets trashed so more has to be purchased and that creates jobs. Are we supposed to let the CIA lose their black ops funding by putting the Afghan opium trade in jeopardy? And then there is the petroleum that must find it's way to America. The Afghan war is perfect because it is unwinnable and could span many presidents. Be a patriot and support your troops in Afghanistan. We have just begun to fight.
Didn't we go into Afghanistan to capture Osama bin Laden? Didn't we go into Iraq for Weapons of Mass Destruction. Are we missing the fucking point somewhere along the line...why are we still up to our eyeballs in Bush-Cheney shit?
While getting out of the wars is a great idea, you have to leave the countries you blew up in such a fashion that they won't become you own next worst nightmare. Just pulling out now is going to leave a power vacuum which will be filled by countries like Syria, and Iran.
So while keeping spending at home is a wonderful idea, the previous administration left Obama with problems he needs to FIX as opposed to abandon.
The problem is that the US is now stuck with supporting corrupt, unpopular governments. Just like in Vietnam. There is no real way out of it. Continue support of these regimes, it will end up like Vietnam. Replace these regimes, the replacement regimes will be just as corrupt. Leave, and the power vacuum will cause anarchy. Bush's war was a no win situation. Now Obama is stuck with it.
I certainly agree with you, I believe Obama was handed a no win situation when he took office, and unfortunately because of it, it will be a VERY long time before the next non white is elected into the oval office, as the results of this political and economic disaster will be blamed on Obama despite the fact the damage was done before he entered office.
Obama will probably get reelected, because the Republicans are either going to nominate Palin, or the dipshits will break off and nominate Palin as a third party candidate.
No matter how bad Obama is percieved as being,(even though none of the problems are his fault) nobody can be as bad as Palin.
Status is all about propaganda. Considering how many times you hear a politician tell the truth and not point a finger with a false accusation, it seems like there should be no doubt that is was the GOP admin that made 911 possible. Some small %-age of the people can figure it out easily enough, but a much larger %-age would like to belive what they are told so they do not lose status. USA has a very degenerate status bound culture that values money/power more than anthing, by a long shot.
your absolutely right gil, and i've been saying this same thing already. made a video or two about it myself.
we would have no problem financing healthcare if we just get our troops out of afghanistan and iraq. the russians fought in afghan for 10 years did they win? nope they got the hell out and so should we...
Man, how do people get the facts wrong? We don't need these stupid wars. There's no way to win. The economy and healthcare are perfect examples of why we need out of the Middle East and get our money back inside our own borders.
We need Sarah Palin as President for she will UNLEASH the WRATH OF GOD HERSELF onto Al-Queda and Taliban as well as the corrupt government for all those Afghan men are ALL her DICKLESS and BALLESS BITCHES and PUSSIES! Palin's INVINCIBLE and INDESTRUCTIBLE AMAZON GOD WARRIORS will capture the Taliban, Bin-Laden and his terrorists as well as Karzai and EXPOSE all their PUSSIES for the WHOLE WORLD TO SEE! She will shoot them down from a helicopter in Alaska!
Afghanistan is a joke. They will never be able to govern themselves because all the best and the brightest left 30 years ago. They're stuck in the 12th century and the entire population has PTSD. They're fucked and so are Canada and the US for fighting this stupid war.
The strange part is that the majority of Americans actually got a tax cut in 2009.
It is sad to see Senators and Representatives say things like, "We are bankrupting our children's future" when they were not and still not willing to actually pay the price that is needed.
I can say this now that I am an adult. Don't worry you already bankrupted my future, now is the time to actually stop being the nation of consumption and start being the nation of saving and paying debt. Time to raise taxes.
They are butthurt because the richest had their taxes raised by a very very small amount.
Oh, by the way, during boom of the 50s and 60s the top marginal tax rate in the US was up to 95%. And that was during BOOM TIMES.
The Very Rich do not spend the majority of their money on consuming, they invest it, not in factories and jobs, but on things like dirivitives and Madoff schemes, which promise greater returns.
As a republican you are right that right now taxes need actual reform. I would like taxes to be low but where we are right now is just insane. Right now our tax codes and the fight for cutting taxes is leaving our society to nickel and dime itself. So we have hundreds of taxes but they are small. This also leaves us with gigantic fines when one gets a speeding ticket. Both forms or revenue are meant to support the government.
What I would like to see is the elimination of useless taxes and the increase of rational taxes that will help save citizens money but also increase revenue of the government.
This if anything should be the new republican platform. It goes with the philosophy of Edmond Burke to support society, it goes with the modern day ideology of the current party.
The middle class was prospered not only from higher taxes on everyone but also what the middle class got in return from grants and employment
Useless taxes? Which taxes are useless and which are useful?
I would say that the speeding fines would be more of a useful tax, as they stop people from speeding, thereby acting as a safety measure as well as a revenue source. It is a voluntary tax, in that if you don't want to pay it, you keep your foot off the accelerator once it reaches whatever the posted limit is.
As for which taxes are useless vs useful that is something I haven't looked into. But it is a good stepping stone to actually look at our tax codes and find the pointless ones and the lack of revenue they produce.
See there is the mishap in the logic, as well as the confusion between a fine(which is assigned to the individual in a form of punishment) and a tax(which everyone is given by our constitution).
You don't want the fine but still want the law to be upheld. So you justify the existence of the ridiculous fine that plagues our society which is the wrong reason for people to obey laws. We are meant to obey laws to keep our social fabric of society from tearing.
Taxes are meant to keep the society funded in order to maintain and operate the government.
If people only feared the insane fines with breaking the law, why don't every single wealthy person just go out and break every law when they can just pay any law they break off? The majority don't because they believe in keeping our society civil.
Taxes are good because they can apply to everyone where everyone shares the financial burden. True some more than others but that is due to wealth.
You are still missing the point. I'm saying that both taxes and fines are revenue for the judicial system and government. One is just more direct than the other.
By being able to fund a judicial system with taxes instead of fines there can be a less harsh penalty on fines.
Iraq recieves universal healthcare, funded by the US taxpayers.
The problem with Iraq and Afghanistan, is that leaving them unstable is a worse option than invading in the first place.
This is further complicated by the fact that the very presence US (and expecially Blackwater) soldiers serves to destabilise the country.(Blackwater mercenaries have been committing severe atrocities)
Really?
1) Dems didn't control Congress until 2006. Everything before that was Bush and his butt-buddy Republican friends. Did they ever deny him money?
2) And that's why us liberals have to keep bringing up Bush. Because you conservatives seemed to have done a damn good job of blocking the idiot out, as if the past eight years had 'just happened'

Last time I looked we had invested a lot of
money here bailing out the banks. The idea
that Obama promised anything is a false as

I'm sure your sentiments are shared, but they

job market, fix that first !!!
