HOW TO: Recon Drone in MW3

Its so stupid how the screen when you're flying the drone only tells you some of the controls. Whose idea was it to tell you how to go up and down but not that you need to use the trigger to tag...

I've used it with hardline...and yes i think it does work...but they are third kills (20 points)....it takes three to make a kill. So for a point reset assuming the drone is the highest streak equipped would take 12 for another uav or 15 for a ballistic vest. I know this cause on ground war i had 40 assists/10 kills/24 deaths w/ the riot shield and xm25 recon/hardline...with vests/sam turret/drone. Right after i got my first drone i got the vests again. I got 3 drones when the game was done.

The assist you get from the Recon Drone do not count towards your Kills even with Hardline Pro. My main class runs Recon, Hardline, and the Recon Drone.

I see many of these pro gamers getting their Osprey gunners and AC130's everytime. I constantly get jealous of their achievements. But at the end of the day, I say fuck them and pull my adorable, fun, mini Recon Drone and smile :)

You can also tag enemy killstreaks aside from turrets, like UAVs or CUAVs, which will give you XP by doing so. (:

The Recon Drone also (if you'll notice in the HUD) puts out a mini blocker on the enemy HUD whenever they get in the vicinity of it. This is why it has a static circle around it because it is blocking the radar of the enemy. So, if you see this when someone is using it on you, shoot the sucker down!

Um, I don't think Tag Assists count according to Hardline Pro. I frequently use the recon drone and I never recieve 'Assists Count as Kills," From Tag Assists.

One more thing how do you get it in the air, whenever I use recon drone, its like I'm running around holding the toy helicopter, it doesnt leave my hands and I get dropped

@PeterEhik Pull the right trigger (or whatever you use to fire your main weapon) to launch the Recon Drone. This is a little glitchy sometimes, but keep pulling it and it will launch.

I've noticed that few people actually try and shoot the recon drone. I've called it in about 10 times or so and only once did a guy try and shoot it.

@abryant0462 I've noticed this same phenomenon. I think that as more people realize just how powerful the tag is they will make more of an attempt to get the Recon Drone shot down. Until then, free points for everyone.

But do you tag ? You just move it around and it just locks itself on the enemy or you press a button to tag ?

@Binelus You fly the Recon Drone by turning with the left stick and ascending/descending with the Left/Right bumpers (at least on xbox). Then, once the enemy is in range and inside the green box, you 'tag' him with the right trigger.

Well I've actually done it several times. I have hardline pro and run the recon drone they don't count.

@erikmchatton I've never actually tried this in game, simply because I don't have Hardline Pro yet. I can't seem to find anything online to confirm/deny Recon Drone tags counting towards your assists or not. I guess this will take some more experimenting.
