I never cared for the edited sound effects of the DVD version. The sound effects on the VHS version were better.

In the DVD I have, if you go to Languages & select Original English Mono for the Spoken Languages setting, you get the original sound effects.

That's generally how I watch my DVD of this movie.

For those of you comparing this film and T2 to Salvation or T3... STFU. You wouldnt know what a good movie is. Same goes for the Predator series. Pred 1 and 2 are classics, the rest is just power rangers in predator costumes. Same with Star Wars and any other movies that have been done and redone and had a sequel and a pre-quel. Big discrepancy in all the Terminator movies - they forget about any of the Terminators extra weight. The Terminator weighs around 2000 lbs, if it was on that bike, thats like having 11 people on that motorcycle. Seeing as even having 2 people slows the bike down, it would probably struggle to reach 40 mph with 11 people on it, and it would be hard to balance because of the weight.

This version of the movie's got some improved sound effects, such as clearer gunshots, explosions and so on. The original 1984 soundtrack was pretty fuzzy compared to this. :-) But Fiedel's music is still excellent.

James Cameron is a great director,specially for science-fiction. i think The Terminator is among the best 3-4 science-fiction movies of the decade 80ies . very beautiful also Terminator 2- judgment day , but I prefer the first. more original and there's a special appeal. and it is made with little money. a low-budget film.
