George Galloway is a poor mans Jimmy Reid, as much as I disagreed with Jimmy's politics, I enjoyed his TV programmes and remember when he wrote a few articles which I also found interesting, the essential diffference is Jimmy had the decency to listen to other peoople without resorting to abuse, he accepted other peoples views and was never as rude or obnoxious as George Galloway, for a man who represents the 'Respect' party he shows very little himself, ghastly man (or should that be cat)?
I honestly don't see why his faith should be such a big deal. I don't care if he's a Muslim or a Christian or an Atheist, because I see nothing wrong with him being either. It's just what's in his heart & he is entitled to keep it to himself. Besides, you don't have to be a Muslim to oppose the war in Iraq or oppose racism or to oppose the mistreatment of the Palestinians.

But he doesn't keep his religion private. He has repeatedly said about how he believes in God, and how there is "no God, but God". He says "Insh'allah" all the time, meaning "God Willing" (a Islamic phrase at that), and he has said about how he believes that Mohammed entered heaven via Jeruselum. He has also said about how Blair and Bush will go to hellfire when they die.
So it's not about privacy is it. It's about the fact that he is embarassed to be honest on it.
He shouldn't be too surprised, however, since he employs a great deal of Muslim nomenclature -- the salaam, calling another Muslim 'brother'. I completely respect GG's right to privacy of faith, but I notice that--despite his Catholic upbringing--he's very careful to avoid Christian terminology in his discussions of faith. Either way, it ultimately doesn't matter, but he shouldn't be surprised that the question arises.
LOL his religion is a personal matter and I respect someone to keep their religion private rather then preaching it to me. I don't see why people would get bothered at his request not to speak about his religion. People are obsessed with making religion the main point when it does not matter.

I believe that George Galloway admitted he was a Muslim about 30-35minutes into his Talksport radio show on Friday 17th September.
A caller said "you are a muslim and...." and GG replied "yes, and..." - see for yourself.
What's clear is that GG didn't say he wasn't a Muslim in response, when the caller said he was.

there are also pics of Galloway praying in a mosque in gaza with the Hamas prime minister and holding islamic prayer beads in his hand.
