James the Nintendo game nerd, got one of these types of 100-in-1 thingies and reviewed it. These consoles really do seem to be life sapping. If you haven't already seen James' video, go and track it down. It's "interesting". You might even leave thinking you got an absolute, comparative, bargain! (though I very much doubt it).
If you've got it in your collection, I would quite like to see your opinion on the Cascade Cassette 50 for the ZX Spectrum. It achieved notoriety for being so bad.
I'll look forward to it. Did the Vic 20 version come with the enticement of a free digital watch? If so, I don't suppose you managed to acquire the watch as well as the game?
80 days is a video game spin off of the popular Toei Animation series 'Puss in Boots' The original cart is considered quite rare and collectable, presumably because Toei were responsible for 'Fist of the North Star'. The music and gameplay are incredibly monotonous, but I'm kinda fond of the little cat!
Curious. I wondered while playing the game if there was some "Puss In Boots" theme going on, as the cat looked like the character from the Ladybird book I read as a very young child.
Strangely, Formation Z looks like they use the game concept of Moon Patrol, with all the shooting, jumping, flying things, and multi paralax going on.
Um albino mole? "i'm all wet!" lol Great vid steve, I have played Front line on the NES i think it was one of those blue cartridges i cant really remember the names of it, if i find it i will let you know i never got past the 1st screen because the shooting angles are so awful lol
I know that after legal chanllenges regarding Nintendo's lisencing policy, the flood gates were pretty much opened to all comers, and the NES was flooded with shovelware in the same way as the Atari had been.
I suspect much of this is that shovelware rubbish.
Nice to see it's got Argus

The "80" days game is puss in boots aroudn the world in 80 days.
staring parro the cat.
based on a cartoon in the 80's (when i was a kid my mother actuily bought the video becos i kept renting it... it cost her 70 bucks)
There was a tank/drill sorta thing ran by the three (bad cats) who were chasing parro (puss n boots) becos he wouldnt eat mice.
i never knew they made a game of it honistly now i'm searching for the rom :)

In Formation Z, you must jump higher and your character/robot transforms into a jet. It's actually quite a good game.

I don't think I have it for the Speccy, but I do have the Vic 20 version. I've put a couple of games from it on here. They really are shockingly bad.

loved this vid.
i was delighted to find Gradius in this cart but it has some major scenery problems and as you die when you hit the scenery, it is game breaking.
calel360 2 years ago
So it's not just my one that's broken. I'd figured I just had a bad cart where that game was concerned.

I like how "score" is misspelled on the boat race game.

Puss in Boots is based on an Anime series, infact the animation company, Toei, still used the cat's face as it's logo.

None of these games are "Super Fart Attack," I'll tell you that much.

Yes

Regarding Bird Week, I agree - the first thing I thought of was Kolibri for the 32X

When I first saw these games I thought it was a leaked video of the Xbox 720 or Playstation 4 ;0)

Lol! There were some pretty horrible games there.
You know a game's bad when they can't even be bothered to spellcheck it - apparently, you "scroed" 2560 "pionts" in Boat Race. :P
I shall look forward to the next instalment. :)

Blimey... I hadn't even noticed the spelling mistakes.
That game was so bad, I was probably trying not to look at the screen unless it was completely necessary.

newcoleco 2 years ago
It does seem to have elements of Moon Patrol.
It's possible that as the game progresses, it may get better.
At the start though, all of those aliens going over the top... you can completely ignore them, and they won't touch you.

these games look rubbish but actually look quite fun. not like that action 52 crap.

"Front Line" looks decent. One of my favorite arcade games there. Many quarters wasted.. :)
Great video!!

I have a 118 in 1 which I care greatly for both the good and bad games. It's a great value!

@fakeplasticball
I have Frontline too!
Best part is hopping into a tank half your size.

I didn't know there were tanks. I'm gonna have to play that one some more.

i guess 80 day's is supposed to be called "80 days around the world".
thanks for showing, as i never even saw one on sale here in the netherlands.
musicmaniac1965 2 years ago
Heh. You seem angry when the games weren't SO bad. Secretly enjoying the games? :)
80 Days might be fun if you're stoned and drunk to the point where standing up is a challenge.
The bird game looks alright. It has a mushroom there which is always a bonus.
Challenger had a nice. train rolling on tracks sound effect.
Dough Boy just sucked ass! Looks like a 'Little Red Hood' type game.
Formation Z has some Parallax going on! Looks like a Moon Patrol rip-off.
Field Combat looks like fun!
wessouthern 2 years ago
I'm not angry at any point.
The feeling I get most when playing these games falls somewhere between being amused and perplexed.

Believe it or not, Frontline is an EARLY Taito arcade game. It would have been ported to the Famicom before the Famicom ever got imported to the West.
Given your love of classic arcade games, it doesn't surprise me that you took to it, because it really is a hold over of sorts from that era.
From what little I've played of it, it looks pretty much like they did a dead-on port to the Famicom and Famiclone, in this case. :D
pocketmego 2 years ago
Worst of all is that most of these (if not all) were actual Famicom games, or rips thereof.
